I was lucky enough to get 2 prototype spacers recently and figured I would give a quick review.
First was the C8 spacer. Being a prototype there was a slight error in the height of the spacer but this was the machine shop error, kiriba-ru measurements were spot on what it should be and will obviously be fixed before production.
The spacer is great, VERY heavy in copper. In this case I would go with an aluminum version if it was offered myself. It puts a lot of weight in the head with copper and is just not needed unless you are trying to run 3x XP-L2’s or something.
The convoy C8 will make a great host for it but it also worked great in my cheap C8 hosts as well as long as they had a 20mm solid pill (which you can order from fast tech if yours doesn’t). I was not able to actually build a light due to not having a spare MCPCB or optic and wanting to put the one I used for testing back in the X6.
That said there are a few advantages of the C8, first it is larger, so it will have more heat shedding ability. It also has a larger head which means that the optic will not be shrouded and you should get a bit higher OTF lumens. It also gives you the ability to use cheap C8 hosts you have laying around as the base for a triple build if you desire.
The downside compared to the X6/X7 is that it is larger, duh. lol
I have an F13 spacer but have not got a host to test it in yet.
The other prototype I just got done building yesterday is the VG-10 quad spacer. There are several different versions of the VG-10 out now, I have a “V2” version.
The spacer fit perfectly, perfect size and height. The glass just compresses the optic as it should, it is nice and centered ect. It doesn’t even need a centering ring.
I built the light with a TA driver quad Tpad and 4x 219B 9080 4500k LED’s (98CRI). It is amazing!
I built it as a photo light and it is perfect for that, around 2200 lumens of the most amazing tint I have ever seen. and I have seen a lot of nice tints.
I give it :+1: :+1: on my V2 VG-10!
