Astrolux K01 new copper 14500

Just saw this in today’s BG new arrivals: Astrolux K01

XP-L, choice of three tints, 7/4 modes, 1400 lumen.
It looks nice and sweet… Not sure what driver is in there though…

Freeme group buy here:

The driver will be the BLF-A6 driver.

This light as an Astrolux version was expected these days, it seems that Neal’s group buy was blocked by Mateminco once Banggood got notice of it.

Pity for Neal, and also I liked the Mateminco branding better.

Branding looks laser etched so can be polished away, but yeah mateminco looked better.

I still want one so lets get that group buy rolling again

Just saw this, and I’m tempted! It’s a great looking light, certainly impressive brightness for an AA-sized battery.
But I already have an A6 with an 18350 tube… resulting in a light with the same driver that’s smaller max diameter, shorter length, and greater battery capacity. I know this will be an unpopular sentiment here, and I’m surprised I’m even saying it, but I’m finding it hard to justify this light…

OTOH, when someone starts selling the next impressively bright 2xAAA-sized light, then I’ll probably cave!

Looks like a mini Ultrafire F13.

It looks exactly like a SK68, except for the tailcap (and the optics)

Looks good.

Apart from the zoom lens that is. And the sk68 minus the zoom-lens = Nitecore Extreme!

I don’t mind, i just want it! - lol!

Looks sweet! Not a fan of the lighted switch though… I’ve had my Astrolux SC already kill an unprotected 14500 because of this.

Well, you’re in luck. My K01 just arrived today and the switchboard has nothing on it, no led, no resistors, just a regular switch.

I’d like to see this model with nice Nichia high CRI LED and variety of drivers: 4x7135 with nice modes would be healthier for 14500…
The other nice LED would be XPL HI, a bit of little beauty flashlight with nice throw. Suggestions sent on Banggood chat.

For me it looks great, even better than Astrolux SC.

mine just came in, it looks gorgeous! the battery tube is way larger than the 14500 but it fits and works with no jiggling around.great finish, really do not notice the branding. one problem, the switch light is not functioning. do i need to put it in a different ui to get it working?

Nope, it’s not the UI. The problem is that there are no components on the switchboard except the switch itself. The only way to get the lighted tail cap working is to solder on an led and resistor. Seems we’ve been duped.

Description on BG item’s page clearly shows lighten tailcap.

Refund needed? Banggood should at least provide DIY set to make this cap lighted.

at the very least, i purchased one for me and one for a friend based on the fact that it had a lighted tailcap(among other things)

How is a lighted tailcap gonna work on AA (NiMH or Alkaline) anyway?
[edit] aha, it’s 14500 only… [/edit]

They have probably done you a favor as the lighted tail cap feature makes the reverse switching pause incredibly long. Very hard to get the timing down to do reverse.

And yes the 14500’s do not last all that long when shelf sitting with tail cap lit.
My copper BLF X5 drains pretty fast and will kill a battery good and dead if you let it go.

Anyway, this flashlight, while pretty would end up being too heavy for EDC, for me anyway, as always, Your Voltage may Vary.
Later,

Keith

Let me know if the SC ever bothers you again. I’ll give you a good price for it.

One on Ebay if you would like to take a peek at it.
