Reflector revised: ReyLight Pineapple Brass 14500/AA Flashlight, Nichia 219C 4000K

It is designed to take both protected and unprotected, as long as it is less than 52.5mm. Most protected batteries are 52mm.

It’s true. Olight’s 14500 is about 1-2 mm longer than my Eneloop.

Btw here’s my investigation:

Spring Swap
Pineapple’s back spring is a bit thick and long. So I suspected that this may caused the problem. It even made my Olight battery a bit dented inside (see picture).

So I swapped the spring with another one taken from dead driver. It’s shorter and slimmer, I think it’s better than original one because it has golden color

It works BUT only when the tail is not fully tightened.

FAILED.

More insulation
I thought that the problem was short circuit with the retainer ring at its tailcap. So I added nail paint into the retainer ring as well as around the negative pole of the battery to avoid short contact.

The result is still the same as above. Only working when the head or tailcap is a bit loosen.

FAILED

Magical Stuff
Just when I didn’t know what to do, I tried to loosen the retainer ring for driver a bit. Just in case it will work.

YES IT WORKS!

How long is your battery? including the button top.

Some times I’ve had to cut the wrap from the neg end of the cell back even with edge of the cell to make contact on some lights and some cells,
I’m using the WindyFire 14500 cells with this pineapp and they are perfect in flat and button, that cell looks sort of scuffed up on the wrap so, just a thought.

Lan is here.

Rey, please stop posting pictures like that! Now i have to tell myself all the time that i have enough flashlights…

YES !!!

But can’t find it on MD? Where to order please?

It will launch shortly. I will post about it.

I saw mine in this photo.

Hope you advise us through this thread. Thanks

Hi.

Received a new reflector today, thanks Rey!
Much nicer beam, but what about the text XP-G on the PCB?

Nichia 219 emitters use the same footprint as a Cree XP emitter. So… that’s the correct MCPCB.

New to this thread, I did browse through the last couple pages and here is what I am thinking is happening. There will soon be a titanium version of the AA Reylight with the new 9khz PWM driver. Is there any plan for a brass or copper version with the new driver? Also wondering if the run times are better with the new driver and Nichia 219C. Here is what I think the current run time is:
Lumens: 0.2LM,5LM,30LM,110LM* (AA)
Runtime: 30days,50h,4.5h,1h (AA)

Med and high seem pretty inefficient. Hoping the 9kHz driver solved that? Maybe that is just the emitter at higher drive levels. I am pretty new to this hobby so I am still learning.

Sorry, thought I have replied this. Titanium version will be soon available on Massdrop. Copper will be next.
New driver brass, all gone, I have a few left. Nichia has better tint but less output. XP-G3 S4 can do 200 lumens with AA.

Shipped one sample to MD last week. Very sadly that HongKong DHL warehouse was on fire, package was hold and returned. Shipped again yesterday. 6 days wasted.
Now working on Ti Lan sand blasting and heat blueing, Ti pen, REV 2 of Triple Ti.

Time for another review!

Will it have the body design of the original brass Pineapple or the holey one of the Ti Lan? Or will you create a third version?

It will be the same as pineapple. Might add 3 trit slots around head?
