The Redraw GAW (ENDED)

Thanks pp

Something i want dream for quite some time is a lumen beast . Something like an Acebeam X65 with lots of quads and triples on it (8x quads (32 xpl hi’s) and 4x xhp70 or 3x triples) . The driver should be a fet driver with 2 or 3 fets to handle the current and it would probably run Narsil .

+1

Okay, truth be known, I’m a flashaholic. I buy more than I should. :person_facepalming:

I’m in! I’d love to have a Courui D01 (or similar size) with XHP-35. I already have a Courui D01 that I could mod, but I don’t have the stuff to mod into it! I need the XHP-35, a good boost driver, and a copper pill to replace the thin stock shelf.

I want an AAA sized flashlight for my EDC :

At least 100 kCd (what ?) and a 2000 lumens on Turbo. But I want autonomy so that Turbo should last at least 2 hours ! The moonlight should be as low as 0,01 lumen, and by the way brightness should be adsjustable with a rotating ring with clever logarythmic levels.
I think ot would be a zoomie, because they are practical and in a luxurious yet light material. Titanium maybe, or carbon fiber.
Heat management should not be a problem, because it would feature the new CREE+Nichia+Luminus cooperation LED that doesn’t produce any heat ! (when you hit 3000 lm/W, heat is not a problem anymore !)
Wireless charging on my bedside table would be a must.

Thank you for your giveaway !

This has been one of my dream lights for a while. The thought of 1500 lumens coming out of a tiny 18350 light WITH Nichia tint. That’s my jam. Of course, almost anything Vinh produces is pretty sweet.

i just want a EDC AA light but with modes like BLF A6

I like Meteor_M43 but wish there is another a bit smaller flashlight:

B*atteries*: 3*18650 instead of 4*18650 in M43
LED: 3*XP-* triples (4 triples in M43). NW. Nichias are welcome as well. Or maybe even better 9 led under single TIR
Driver: The same efficient boost driver. Just not so powerful.
Modes: M43’s UI is OK for me but never tried Narsil with ramping so cant say for sure.
Button with RGB led is OK.
Wish it has a possibility to flash new FW without disassembling the whole flashlight.

NO:

- built-in chargers

  • CW tint

I want a zoomie that has great mode spacing and w/o the LED die when it’s fully focused.

Hmm, ultimate light is quite a thought provoker… Perhaps too hard to answer in my morning hours.

How about an much easier one to answer such as most desired qualities in an EDC? (it would be my most useful light & not most desired)

For me carrying a cr2 or cr123 sized is good size for it disappear in my pocket kind of EDC BUT w/ the current tech they currently offer me terrible runtime b/c I also use them in high output frequently (say 300+ lumens.) & thus whenever I can get away carrying more size I gravitate towards a 18500 celled light. Also for EDC lights I’m finding ones w/ internal charging via a mini-USB port quite handy (yes, even when they add a bit more length.) I’m also finding myself trying to drop as much weight as possible for my edcs & thus it would have to be made out of ALU. Pretty modest reqs, no?

But yes, your original question is tuff to answer & I’ll ponder (drool) all day over which light would fit my bill. :disappointed:

Anything I recommend would likely be a mod. Although I would like to have one of the newer larger reflector XHP 70 throwers, I’ve always had a light in mind I wish I could build, but it would be much too expensive. I’m also not sure if the dimensions would even be right to be possible. Sort of an amped-up Meteor.

1. Start with a Quad-light like the Ultrafire UF-T90 (starting with a $60 host):

2. Strip it out, and replace the existing reflectors/pill/etc with properly fitted spacers to equip light with 4x XP-L HI triples with Carclo optics.
3. Driver would be some sort of high-current capable FET-based unit.
4. Light would be equivalent to 4x of my current triple, in one package, and would be incredibly bright until the fires really got going:

My next (and more realistic choice) would be a simple 1x AA version of the Convoy S6 with an appropriate deep carry pocket clip. (I know, I’ve mentioned this repeatedly… ) I’d probably build it with an XP-L or XM-L2 depending on the reflector availability, and use a simple low-current no-blinkies driver. I’m happy with the Nanjg 101 AK-A1 driver in my current TrustFire F20 EDC light, so I would actually probably use that. No need for maximum FET output in an EDC; I’d rather compromise and get some actual runtime…

I would love a 6 d cell maglite made of titanium. But it takes 26650s and has three heads, each head has 4 xhp 70. 3800k color. Some how twist the 3 heads to adjust focus.
Water proof shock proof , with a leather holster.
I’ll keep dreaming.

First, thank you for gaw.

Let me think about it…
It would be cool to have RGBW light with some kind of advanced control. Maybe LCD screen and keys or even a bluetooth option and app for control, or both
It can be quad with 4 reflectors, each for one color led so leds would be centered.
4x18650 powered.

Actually, it looks like for me it would be Nitecore TM26GT with different led in each reflector and advanced control options

You said dream light…

A laser powered flashlight with the technology used on the new BMW laser headlights with a focusable iris type of lens that can collimate to almost 1 degree and open up to around 60 degrees, infinitely brightness is a must, using titanium and graphene and a design inspired by Photonfanatic or Jeff Hanko…

Example of Jeff Hanko designs…

Example of Photonfanatic designs…

Recently I was pondering almost exactly the same thing. Using one of those ebay colour changer lights and shoe horn it into a torch host. I also have an idea for an oled display using something like this -

J-Hanko makes me go weak at the knees… and then the price sweeps my legs out from under me :money_mouth_face:

I will second that. It’s got to have a good tint too though.

Thanks for the GAW 2.0

Bob

I made such a light for you but you will have to pick it up in person as there are no delivery services where it’s at. I left it on top of the highest peak of the ex-planet Pluto in an appropriate gift box engraved with your name so those pesky UFO-driving aliens would not steal it before you arrive.

Phil

PS: No requests for duplicates please. I used the last bit of unobtanium in the universe to make this light so there will be no more ever.
Phil

Thank you for the giveaway. My ultimate flashlight would be a AAA powered zoomie with ultrasonic coyote deterrent and hidden UV and IR modes.

I don’t really want to be in the GAW unless you just feel obliged (plus I’m in the US of A……don’t even know that you’d send that far) and my post will probably make many of you experienced modders cringe……but I will dare to dream for a moment. My crazy idea, and no, it would not be an EDC obviously….
SRK style light

  • 1 or 3 (depending on space requirements) XHP 35 HI’s in the middle with deep-ish reflector for throw
  • 4 XHP70’s around the 35’s with shallow reflector for flood
  • powered by 4 18650’s wired so as to allow 1 to 4 cells in operation
  • mode selection allowing mixture of selecting 35’s only, 70’s only or both
  • GITD tape around bezel area somewhere for fun
  • LED under side switch for locator/battery status output

Gonna stop there because I’m sure I ventured into fantasy land with the different reflector idea……but would be kinda neat to have all that power, battery capacity and flexibility in a solid light.

I’d love something the size of the K18 or Tool (easily pocketable), shiny metal (Ti, Cu, brass - does’t matter!) that puts out 1000 lumens or so without overheating, and has a 2-3 hour runtime on high (plutonium battery power?) with infinite mode adjust and CRI adjust, and a beam adjustment from throw to flood, and a way to mount it for hands free use without a headband or appearing like a total geek (I must look like a dork in my H03 headlight, but I love the way it works) - also wireless recharging…

oh, and some trits! just for fun.

thanks for the additional giveaway!
