Difference between Opus BT-C3400 & BT-C3100 v2.1?

YEP)!!! That is exactly what mine does. :+1:
Which I really would not mind so much….
…BUT for the fact that ALL the Capacity data is lost and resets each time it does it. :person_facepalming:
.

EDIT……….

+1 on this too.

I do not have a more powerful power supply.

The picture will have to wait until tomorrow as I am testing again to see if it gives the same results!

I am getting another Opus on Monday! If that one fails I give up on Opus all together or buy another power supply which I do not want to do.

I love the longevity, simplicity and reliability of my FENIX ARE-C2! :+1:

Jon from Liionwholesale’s guess is that it is overheating and/or may have a failing/bad thermal sensor?

EDIT: The theory about over heating makes no sense to me because the charger NEVER feels hot. The power supply gets warm but not hot like Opus number 1!

I doubt it, in my opinion the most likely cause is the power supply. The Opus will draw more than 3A in peak current, in my test I measured 6A for nearly 0.02 second. Then 0A for 0.03 seconds, bringing the average below 3A

ok,If I go that route I do not want to order online. I have to find a place that sells them where I can bring my charger to make sure it works.

If it is indeed the power supply the new one I get Monday will probably have the same issue!

Hey wolfdog…… what size is the plug that goes into the charger?
I am not home right now to look.
But I am gonna try to pick up a used power supply at the electronics shop in town before I go back to the compound.
But I need to know the “plug to charger” size………

Thanks in advance for any help given here………… :+1: …

Let me look, not sure if I can decipher while it is charging!

I looked on line for these and they were $15 and up,I do not want to pay half the cost of my charger for a power supply! I am not confident If I ordered one online that it would be the right one, when I can just get another opus, probably w./ the same issue!!

My bad, don’t worry about it if you can’t. I’ll just try tomorrow when I find out the plug size.

There is no indication of the size of the barrel plug in the manual or written on the charger/plug itself. It will take 10 or 15 minutes to post pictures, that will give info gausse wants but may not help for barrel plug size.

Thanks gauss163. :+1: I appreciate that info.

Already got the size from gauss, so the only thing left is the power supply spec pic for gauss. :+1:

THIS IS THE SMPS FOR MY OPUS 2.2 VERSION

Are you sure Gausse?! I may order one next week!

FAVOLCANO FAVOLCANO® AC 100-240V To DC 12V 5A 60W 5.5x2.1mm DC Output Jack Power Supply Converter Adapter for Led Li

$21.13,crazy,more than half of what I paid for the opus!

This OPUS thread is bringing the love back,no more bickering!

OK,Thanks,I will check that out.

I did find some on Ebay for $7,seems awfully cheap………I wonder what the quality will be?

I’ve tried to make my 3400 produce the problem—it won’t do it—charging (4) 30Qs at 1amp without a hitch—-my 3100 is at my camp—I have also tried my power supply from my hobby charger 12v/ 5a —-works perfectly—these are readily available on ebay— also I’m curious if anyone has a car adapter—try it in your car on straight 12v

http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-5A-60W-AC-Adapter-Charger-for-CHI-LCD-Monitor-CH-1204-CH-1205-Power-Supply/231042910306?\_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598&\_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3D74420f7d11b8465881499e82f412f71b%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D311727670774

I just retested my 3400 with my 2a power supply—-it reset almost the instant it started charging—I’m pretty confident it’s a power supply issue—if I remember correctly the 3100 has a more rounded edge PS—where as the 3400 I have it’s square—most likely updated

Thanks, according to Gausse the one you posted has the Wrong barrel connector size.

Connecter size: 5.5mm/2.5mm

It should be 5.5mm/2.1mm??
One of you are wrong,I just ordered the 2.1mm,I hope it is the CORRECT one!!!

P.S. Mine never failed while charging 4 x 18650 @1 amp,only when I did the charge /test

Not sure what size barrel I have— it’s plastic insert is yellow—thought it might be color coded

I’ve had this 3400 for almost 2yrs—I always charge/test at 1a—— 4 at a time—-I’m talking 100s of cells from pulls to new —never had the issue you’ll are having

EDIT: my 3400 PS is the Asian Power Devices APD WA-36A12U as stated above

Were you doing it like outlined below chops???

That may be it,the APD is better. That is probably the problem.
