Cheapest P60 (18650) host?

I'm looking for a couple of cheap hosts, I going to make some very budget but decent flashlights for my nephews (14 and 16 years old).

My brother has said he will pay for them up to around $50 for the pair including batteries and a charger.

So far I have found this Sky Ray S-R5 for $7.99 (stumbled across this when a different brother was looking for one)

And this P60 XM-L T6 Drop in for $9.09

So far that's about $17 without batteries or charger. (They can share a charger anyway)

I remember in another thread someone talking about a $4.50 host, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Does anyone know where I can find anything cheaper or is this it?

Ultrafire 501/504 in its various iterations can be had for as little as $6USD.

There was a thread here recently about a 501 with an XM-L for around $16.

I would buy some quality Panasonic- or Sanyo-based protected cells, and work backward from there.

You may get good mileage out of a Solarforce bundle, but I don't remember Jo's website right now.

Thanks, Ill try find them and look in to them.

Still open to anything else as well at this point.

Good choices ...

Sky Ray at that price is a better buy than the 501 ... If my Sky Ray is anything to go bye , should run well .

Thanks old4570, Ill keep that in mind also.

I did find some 501's for $6 here as well, I'm probably leaning towards the Sky Ray still though.

Still open to anything else at the moment.

And I need to look around for a cheapish charger and battries for them as well, but not something that are going to be duds.

If I go for the Sky Ray's that leaves $15 for batteries and charger or the 501's will leave $19 for them.

Chargers.

Found some more 501's on DX for $5.80

Thanks Boaz and Noodles, checking them out now.

Thats good prices Boaz.

Noodles, $17 for a charger alone is too much. By the time I bought a AU plug for it, it would cost $20 and leave nothing left for batteries.

I could pay a few bucks myself or ask my bro for another $10 but I'm kind of looking at it as a challenge to come in under $50.

I have had pretty good luck with the skyrays and if it means anything for your situation, my son has two and loves them because of the design. He is 15.

I've bought a bunch of these http://www.dealextreme.com/p/digital-li-ion-18650-battery-charger-6105 chargers over the last couple of years for friend's lights and one for myself and haven't had a problem with any of them. Simple and relatively slow, but they do have 2 independent channels. ~$7 each.

For batteries the Xtar 2400/2600 group buy seems like good value for a pair of decent protected batteries.

No idea on the hosts and drop ins though, I'm just as new to this game!

I ended up buying 2 of these 502's but I'm thinking I might oldbobk said and get 2 diffrent ones for them. I'm pretty sure I can get my money back for one of the 502's from a friend or family member easily. After a coupon they ended up costing about $10 or so each.

Maybe the Sky Ray S-R5 or the 504 in silver or black.

Where is the Xtar 2400 and 2600 group buy? I have looked for that thread a couple of times in the last few days but I din't have any luck finding it.
