I’d love something the size of the K18 or Tool (easily pocketable), shiny metal (Ti, Cu, brass - does’t matter!) that puts out 1000 lumens or so without overheating, and has a 2-3 hour runtime on high (plutonium battery power?) with infinite mode adjust and CRI adjust, and a beam adjustment from throw to flood, and a way to mount it for hands free use without a headband or appearing like a total geek (I must look like a dork in my H03 headlight, but I love the way it works) - also wireless recharging…
form factor - nitecore tube type
ui - i like nitecore tube ui
emitter - 1000 lumens 93 < cri
battery life - 1 hr on high. 10hrs at 300 lumens
magnet - allows hands free work
lantern mode - some kind of add-on that turns it into a lantern
continuous battery life indicator - i always fret about how much juice remains
headlamp mode - attaches to a headband
compact enough for pocket EDC (powered by 1x18650 or 18500).
Infinitely variable brightness magnetic ring.
Infinitely variable tint magnetic ring.
3 different choices of emitter
Under the Carclo 10507: Two of the emitters would be XPL HI, one at 3000K, the other 6500K. In variable tint mode, those 2 emitters would simultaneously be lit at varying brightness resulting in different tint.
The third emitter under the triple optic would be a high CRI Nichia 219B or C.
If there is room, perhaps at the other end of the light have a 20mm aspheric lens and XPL HI or dedomed old-version XPG2 for throw.
Material: Grey anodized aluminum with as small form factor as possible.
I’m into throwers, so I’m thinking dedomed Cree XP-E2 in a 200mm reflector. Single 26650 would give sufficient run times. Matte black anodized finish with simple 5 mode regulated driver and a side switch.
I’d want something the size of a Utorch UT01 but with a long long run-time for my earthquake supplies. Since it doesn’t have to be a real light it should have a 1 month run-time on a single charge at 1500 lumens with 3 additional modes, one of which is a 1 lumen moonlight (6 month run-time). It also needs to be indestructible and 100% waterproof. Being able to mount it on my shotgun and rifles with a pressure switch would be a plus.
I want a custom milled light. I do not care about specs and performance i can build any output light i want but i do not know/have the equipment to produce my own base light.
Im really into headlights. So my ultimate light would be a single 18650 headlight with 5 leds running down the length of the tube. Like a traditional angle headlight, but instead of one led off to the side, they would be evenly spaced all the way across. The middle led would have a reflector for throw. The rest would be full flood and hi cri. It would have fins for cooling, and be very lightweight. Maybe one red led also.
A really good and “compact” thrower would be great, something like the Courui D01 but with a stainless body and an BLF X6 style head.
Lots of copper and cooling fins sandwiched in between stainless steel.
4 modes, each controled individually by a designated switch in a custom, dimly lighted; side switch panel. Each switch with different colored boot.

Best lens made
Triple O-ringed
Best LED available at the time for this purpose built BEAST
Driver… one that would supplly this Monster all the juice it required.
I think my ultimate light would be kind of modest. I would love to have a single 18650 or two 18350 driving a single xhp35 in a c8 sized package. I need something pocketable for work but bright with awesome throw. UCL lens and smooth reflector. Heck maybe even a lighted tailcap to boot. Modes should be simple, three or four with none of the flashy stuff. That would be the ultimate work light for me and definitely the most used light.
2 switches - one for flood and the other for throw
All from within one reflector designed in cooky way to house two styles of LEDs - a group that do the flood duties and maybe one in the middle that throws.
Hmmm, figure something very much like a ’502 only a smoother battery tube, rounded tailcap, forward-clicky switch, twist-ring like on a Quark 2AA-X to allow a VG10ish group of modes (f/l/m/h), and twist for 100%-only “group”. Or alternately, a lock-ring to prevent inadvertent mode-changes.
I agree a single cell xhp35 in a c8 style light would be awesome. With an amount of copper to extract the heat so no step down needed and infinitely variable brightness control. Add some magnetic style charging so no need to plug in ever. Maybe even attachable to a flexible arm lamp so I could keep it near the bed to read then grab it off the lamp to take it with me.
My ultimate light would be a lumen monster that I could use in the summer at midnight and it still see what it does…Here up in the north we have sunlight in june and july at 1am (if not cloudy) :confounded:
