Battery ?

I did notice something weird with the text,I didnā€™t know what/why it was doing it. I didā€™t realize there was a advanced format.

I didnā€™t think about WM.COMā€¦ā€¦ Seems like a pretty decent deal with all the extraā€™s in it. I use those C & D adapters from time to timeā€¦. and youā€™ll have one of those chargers to so you can get going.

@ teacher, Is the Innova 3320 accurate? Do you have to calibrate it? How do you calibrate a any DMM?

Is the Eneloop kit worth it for the batteries?

Iā€™m going to pick up another charger. A general question on the CC17 charger, Does it detect half drain battery and top them off or is it time charge for certain time period and for half drain battery there is a potential for over charging because of the

Does the C&D adapters take up the space in the flashlight so you can use a smaller battery instead of a larger battery?

@ Venom

  1. Yep the Innove 3320 seems fairly accurate.
  2. You have to calibrate it only if it needs it.
  3. Go HERE and it will give you the basics on calibration. You will need a known voltage source to calibrate it. You can get something like THIS , THIS , or THIS if you require absolute accuracy.

4. As I have said before, the Eneloop kit sounds like a pretty decent deal/price.

5. No the CC17 will not overcharge the batteries. No matter if they are almost full or almost empty when you charge themā€¦ it will stop when they are full.

6. Yep, you just slide a AA in the adapter and use it like a C or D size battery

Hope this helpā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ :+1:

When I get Lii 500, can I do a DMM accurancy test with it and using the Eneloop? Walmart has the Innova 3320 for $18.80, does that sound like a fair price?

The more I read for answer on this forum the more question I have.

Pretty soon you will have double the post count. j/k

Yeah, you should be able to like the guy described in the link. Also that is fair enough on the 3320. That is a bit cheaper than I paid a few years ago. :+1:

Yeah, the more you learn the more you realize there is to learn. ā€¦ At least I doā€¦.

@teacher For the usb power adapter ( I guess that what itā€™s called) which one is good and doesnā€™t starve devices of power? I read HKJ reviews and alot of them is available in EU and I canā€™t find them in the USA. When you have a charger and itā€™s capable of charging at 2 amp, do you need a 2 amp power adapter? My sister has a Apple one for her phone and it says 5v 1 amp, could that starve a charger for running on 2 amps?

Peak input current for a Lii-202 using both channels at 1A was measured at ā‰ˆ1.9A by HKJ in its review. If the supply can't provide enough current, the charger will just take what is available and charging time will lengthen accordingly.

Nillkin 5V 2A @ GearBest (review: Nillkin AC Adapter 2.0A @ lygte-info.dk). Cheap, proven, superb.

Don't skimp on USB cables and take good care of them. Even some of the branded ones are a joke, with insufficient wire gauge to adequately meet the so claimed 2.4A current rating with ease. Longer cables need adequately bigger power wires gauge (twice the lenght means 3 AWG points less to maintain about equal power wire resistance). Also, twisted and/or bent plugs and your charging speed will plummet because of the much increased contact resistance and voltage drop.

You may also want to try one of these inexpensive ones: Raspberry US/EU AC Charger 5V/3A 3000mA Micro USB Tablet Pc Power Adapter Supply @ prizeshop - eBay

Advantages: rated 3A, so it's quite likely it can do 2A even if a bit overspecced. Integrated cable means no added USB A male plug resistance.

Problems: its wire gauge seems too thin. If AWG24, even at just 3 feet long 316.602mV would drop in such cable when 2A of current flow through it, which is a lot considering we need to further add the drop in the USB micro B plug. If AWG22, it may doā€¦ barely. Some devices are picky with the voltage drop at the input and may quickly re-negotiate a lower current rate (slower charging). Potential fix: if AWG24, trim off half of the cable lenght. LoL!

HI Venom

The information Barkuti gave in the post above is excellent. :+1:

I also found the ones shown below at WalMart for $4.88 apiece.
They are ONN brand. They do preform to specs also. I use them.
You can read a bit more about them HERE and in preceding posts.

@teacher I went to the walmart website and put the model number in and it says the item is no longer available. Do you know anymore options safety/overload features is a plus? Iā€™m trying to stay away from Ebay sellers. Do you know if cell phone usb will work?

I have not found them on the WalMart web site ever. I just go to the store and get themā€¦. they have them at three I have been to.
If they donā€™t have them at your WMā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦
Order that one from GearBest that Barkuti mentionedā€¦ā€¦ http://www.gearbest.com/chargers-cables/pp_488881.html

It would be an excellent one if HKJ gave his stamp of approval. :+1:

Cell phone one will work if it has the rating you need, or like he said will just slow things down if it doesnā€™t.

I called Walmart, they said they have them in stock. Weā€™ll see when I go over the weekend. What does the usb plug does? My guess is regulate the amount current going to the device not sure if it does anything else. If the plug has to high volts or amps will it harm the device? Example Apple 12w usb plug.

When you apply for the PayPal account do you have to give a social security number?

Classic n00b question.

The ubiquitous USB A female you usually see on (cough coughā€¦) ā€œchargersā€ is just a common interface. This way you can use the power supply for different devices/purposes by using the appropiate cable for whatever stuff: common USB A male to USB micro-B male/USB C male/Apple 30-pin male/Apple Lightning male/many others. These things are called chargers probably because of some confused moron's idea ā€œin the beginningā€. Most of them are pretty much USB voltage spec (5V Ā± 5%) power supplies. Only in recent times some newer models have appeared with multiple output voltages and more (Qualcomm Quickcharge and related @#$% stuff), though these will behave as standard 5V power supplies as long as there's no negotiation on their data lines.

The devices take care of how much power is taken and where it goes, no need to worry about stuff burning or pipebombs (unless you buy something wicked and out of specs, of course).

Cheers ^:)

P.S.: just had a good laugh checking the reviews of official Apple Lightning cables, I guess they deserve no less for selling junk at 8-10x its actual retail value.

Hi Venomā€¦ā€¦ā€¦

  • Yep, they have them in the Electronics Department at the WalMartā€™s I go to.
  • Barkuti already answered the USB questions above this post.
  • No, you donā€™t have to give a SS # to open a PayPal account. I have had mine many years and canā€™t remember exactly what you do to open one. But I do remember it was real simple. You keep a credit card on file & a bank account to I think. And that is pretty much it if you are going to be Paying with the account.
There may be some other steps if you are going to be Receiving moneyā€¦. Iā€™m not sure. But the whole process is fairly simple and straight forward.
    .

PayPal is just a payment intermediary, The Big Brother of Payments. When you pay with them, they just transfer the corresponding sale balance from your account to the seller's one, after substracting their fees. Of course, they watch over and have a hold on all of their customers' data. Their policies are, as far as I understand, picky and Conservative, and if you try to do something even remotely fishy, they may decide to withdraw your funds and suspend your account for as long as their investigation may need to. Forget about using PayPal for buying Bitcoins, research chemicals, etc.

Their currency conversion fees are outrageous (ā‰ˆ5%) and mandatory (in the past, you could select your card to be billed on the transaction's currency). @#$%!

I found a usb adapter/charger 25v 2a. Is it overkill? Can it harm anything?

I have no earthly ideal??
Put a link to it up.

I made a little typo itā€™s 25w 2A. Itā€™s the Samsung 33-0699-05-xp charger @ Best Buy. I donā€™t know how to do link.

That Samsung 33-0699-05-xpā€¦ sorry but, $35 for a piece of junk with not so clear specifications? Do you explicitly need a Samsung charger?

No offense but, do you like to throw away your money? My bank account is in dire need for such stuff at this moment.

[Qualcomm Certified] BlitzWolfĀ® BW-S5 QC3.0 18W USB Charger US Adapter with Power3S Tech @ Banggood - On sale right now.

BlitzWolf stuff has been reviewed consistently good by HKJ.
