Difference between Opus BT-C3400 & BT-C3100 v2.1?

ok,everything is in order!! Came 10 minutes ago,batteries charged in 2 minutes and went into discharge mode,It should be done ~ 7:45!

I will give a report when it’s done! I really hope this is the solution!

I bought 2 Power supplies in case one did not work!!!,the first one did not leave Calif. yet and I ordered that 12 hours before this one that came from Portland, Oregon!

Plus they are shipping it FedX and they do not deliver Monday. A label has been created,that is it.

Illumn must be an exception……but then again they ship it First Class US Mail not FedX.

Do the fans wear out quickly? Where did you get them?

I saw a video a month or so of a guy replacing one,looks kind of easy, even for a guy like me!

EDIT: I should have researched b/4 I ask questions!! I will guess you get them at Fasttech! ~$2/each.

I think I found them at Bangood—Nothing to changing them at all—lately I prop up the fan end on something to give better air flow from underneath

Great. That confirms my initial hunch - that it was due to a power supply overload (also surmised by HKJ in a later post).

Which SMPS fixed it? Based on your mention of Oregon, it looks like it may be the Supernight in the eBay auction I linked. If that seems to work well then it might be helpful to post a photo of the label, to help others locate it.

Yes,the Supernight is doing a Super job,test #3 to start in an hour or 2!

I can get a picture after test #2 is complete.

That was an auction (click on “see other items” to fnd it auctioned again at the same price).

However, I’d recommend waiting till we get more feedback. You never know what the quality will be with these bargain-basement SMPS.

Durability and longevity is yet to be determined,so far so good on day #2! I expect my Third test result to follow suit. That should be done by early evening b/4 CAPO and I go on our hike.

There is another way to look at getting one NOW. If your doing a lot of capacity tests the worst that can happen is you lose $6.99 if it fails! On the other hand you can let Wolfdog be the Guinea Pig and see how durable and reliable it is. Then again, I may only run One or Two more CHARGE/TESTS in the next few months!

I am glad this appears to have been the problem. Kudos to you & your testing.

But me confused? Not sure what you are getting at…. but never in your wildest dreams am I confused about this.

And be most assured…… I will make the call when I get ready. Whether that be in 5 minutes or 5 years. It is not a though this is life or death ya’ know…….

Below are some better choices on eBay for a more powerful SMPS for the BT-C3100. They are probably all much better quality than the SuperNight. I can’t be sure that they are all 5.5x2.1mm barrel (they may be 2.5) but they should still fit (at worst you’d need to buy a cheap adapter or DIY convert). There are multiple quantities for all so there’s no rush (best to wait till we are 100% sure this solves the problem).

$8 12V/5A Asian Power Devices APD DA-60L12

$9 12V/4.16A HIPRO HP-A0502R3D 50W (not 60W) but should be enough.

$10.29/BO 12V/5A Channel Well PAA060F

ALL Three of those are Used.

Generally, in this case, a used high-quality SMPS is far better than a new low-quality one.

OK,It is your fault for recommending to me the LOW quality one!!

I am not worried about it. I have a spare if it fails and can always get a better one if they both fail.

^ I didn’t realize you were going to buy so quickly. I picked a couple examples only to show how cheap they are (even cheaper if ordered from China, but then you have to wait at least a couple weeks for ePacket, or longer for other shipping methods).

No big deal. I chose to get it,it will be fine.

I I ever get a better one, It will be brand new! These are not cars we are getting where you know how many miles are on it and how old it is! That is my thinking………I would not want a used one,Hopefully these TWO classics I have will last a while!!

I am going to do a CRUDE temp. check when the batteries are around 4.0/4.10v w/ my maintenance thermometer probe!

Right now the batteries are @ 3.58v. They have a ways to go.

It is 84F outside and 77F in my condo. The SUPERNIGHT IS @ 88F.
