Reflector revised: ReyLight Pineapple Brass 14500/AA Flashlight, Nichia 219C 4000K

Received a new reflector today, thanks Rey!
Much nicer beam, but what about the text XP-G on the PCB?

Nichia 219 emitters use the same footprint as a Cree XP emitter. So… that’s the correct MCPCB.

New to this thread, I did browse through the last couple pages and here is what I am thinking is happening. There will soon be a titanium version of the AA Reylight with the new 9khz PWM driver. Is there any plan for a brass or copper version with the new driver? Also wondering if the run times are better with the new driver and Nichia 219C. Here is what I think the current run time is:
Lumens: 0.2LM,5LM,30LM,110LM* (AA)
Runtime: 30days,50h,4.5h,1h (AA)

Med and high seem pretty inefficient. Hoping the 9kHz driver solved that? Maybe that is just the emitter at higher drive levels. I am pretty new to this hobby so I am still learning.

Sorry, thought I have replied this. Titanium version will be soon available on Massdrop. Copper will be next.
New driver brass, all gone, I have a few left. Nichia has better tint but less output. XP-G3 S4 can do 200 lumens with AA.

Shipped one sample to MD last week. Very sadly that HongKong DHL warehouse was on fire, package was hold and returned. Shipped again yesterday. 6 days wasted.
Now working on Ti Lan sand blasting and heat blueing, Ti pen, REV 2 of Triple Ti.

Time for another review!

Will it have the body design of the original brass Pineapple or the holey one of the Ti Lan? Or will you create a third version?

It will be the same as pineapple. Might add 3 trit slots around head?

Personally, I would not.
IMHO what makes the Pineapple so special is the archaic material (brass, as will copper be) in a heavy, dense format and most of all the simple, kind of raw, coarse design. The host ist all hefty and rugged, to a point most non flashoholic people don’t even recognize it as a flashlight on first sight. The modern and functional internals shine through only at the front and the back end, what is why the trit in the button dosn’t disturb the overall looks of the light. Holding it in my fist is like gripping a solid tool handle, and its function, LIGHT, is coming out of the ends, one active, one passive…
That’s why I think trit slots in the head would destroy this look-and-feel.
They better match a technical material (titanium, stainless) and design (Ti Lan), IMHO…

Thought a lot about what I would change if I could.

One thing I’d possibly give a try: flat sections on the head, just like the ones on the tail. Two or four. They would improve grip between thumb and index finger, and add to the rolling-resistance, if done the whole way up to the front, just like the tail flats. But could also stop somewhere in the middle or, better, near the front of the head, at a step (angled), which would also add to the grip, building an anti-slip ramp.
Big problem here: The head flats would not match the tail flats. Could possibly bother a lot of people. But the four tail flats are already not matching the four groves in the middle section anyway - so what?
But probably not a really workable idea, overall…

What would be interesting to see is how the Pineapple would look like with more breakthroughs in the four rings in the middle section, so that the breakthroughs and the remaining parts of the rings would be about the same size and roughly square. Eight instead of the four existing ones would fulfill this task, I think. As a side effect it would probably look more like a pineapple, that way!

But what I would surely do, if it was up to me, is omit the three grooves in the head, to make the design even simpler!
On my aged Pineapple I find them still a lot too shiny, and too technical/modern, a little bit foreign, disturbing. Not really adding to the grip, and collecting debris…

But, of course, leaving the design as ist is, would be perfectly fine!

Thanks for the advice.

New DHL package was signed, I think Massdrop will lanuch it really soon.

Any chance of getting one straight from you ?

Sorry, I don’t have some spares.

Nice Rey, I like it !

Sandblasting.

Ok, sell me a bead blasted version

Sand blasted look fantastic!

My bad, should’ve not expected MD can launch Ti Lan as fast as they did the Pineapple. It was just one day.
Now the fastest they can turn this around is 3 days. Becuase they don’t launch 2 similar lights that will compete with each other.

Do you have a date Rey so we don’t miss out?
