Skilhunt H03 Review

Does anyone know what’s the longest 18650 the H03 accommodates? Just ordered the headlamp and wonder if my Keeppower 3400s at 69mm will fit. Thanks.

- TXG

I use protected ncr b’s in mine with no problem. H03 has 2 springs (+ and - side of the battery) so I guess it can take
any size of 18650 batteries.

my panny 18650B fit well with 70.2mm

I measured the light and there would fit up to 71mm long cells

KeepPower 3400 fit

Sorry for the silly question, but can someone show me a pic or a how to of how to actually assemble the headstrap, I just can’t seem to figure it out… :person_facepalming:

I have one long strap and one short strap. I assume the short strap goes over the head, but it has a different clip on each end, and the one clip does not seem to be able to go through the other one…. None of the bands have silicone or extra loops on……
Thanks

Hey mate they all loop into one another if that makes sense i will try and take pics.

I tried this on but the rubber on the forehead crimpled vy the band so I changed the long one fitting. Now each end of the long band fitted to the rubber holders each side. No band go behind the rubber.

Thanks for this pic, I didn’t get one like it! I think I can figure it out now, cheers

To H03 owners, has anybody ever replaced the TIR optic with a different one?
Currently looking at Ledil 16mm x 9.7mm TIR optics and wondering if they will be compatible/fit.
Was hoping to get a tighter beam without going to a reflector.

Sorry but I could not find this info: Do high ampere cell increase output power for this light? Does this light even have FET ?

Worth buying extra 30Q for this if I have for example NCR18650B ?

Not 100%, but pretty sure about the following: The maximum output decreases as your cells start to deplete. This means the full 1200 led lumens you’re only going to get with fairly full 4.2V cell. So if your voltage under load reduces, so does output. Therefore with 30Q you will have the same maximum output as with NCR18650B with full cell, but you will have a higher output for a longer period of time with 30Q than with NCR18650B.

Ordered mine about a week ago. Paid for USA Express shipping and insurance. Came out to $35.84. Hopefully, I’ll receive it next week.

It’s a great light with great features and a super low price. It’s just unbelievable…

I’ll let you know how I like it compared to my expensive headlamps from Armytek and Zebralight. True, you can’t beat the price.

The light has a buck driver for 18650 and 2 CRC123 batteries
but the buck part gets only active when the battery voltage is over 4.5V in normal 18650 mode it has a fairly high voltage drop

The main problem i saw for the turbo mode its timed stepdown and if not a fully charged high drain battery you wont reach 3A
The driver has a small inductor and other parts increase the resistance

On normal protected 18650 it wont even reach the full brightness in Turbo

I modded mine with a Narsil TA driver drawing over 5A on a fresh battery

The light has a DTP star so its running well with DD drivers

What diameter driver did you use ?

I used 21mm

I needed to sand down the tube lengh about half a mm to get the o-ring working with standard PCB thickness
the AMCs fins also add a bit of thickness
better order this driver in 2OZ thin Oshpark boards

I have a mod idea…

  • Skilhunt H03
  • XHP50.2 K2 NW from KD
  • Schoki’s MP3431 driver with attiny85
  • Andúril
  • 4000 lm OTF, thermally slightly unsustainable
  • maybe later a shorty mod

And several questions…
I’ve read somewhere that H03 are not glued recently, is that right?
Will XHP50.2 fit the optic? If no, are there suggested replacements?
How about driver height?
Any other potential problems?

I’m gonna try this with a 2s ta driver from lexel with 2 aspire 18350’s. I haven’t decided if i’m going to try it in h03 or hc30 i have.

Got my H03 today, the head is glued.
