browsing for the E01, I found the Mateminco S02

I hope this model will not be hijacked by Banggood, like happened with the Mateminco E01: since the Astrolux K01 is announced, the Mateminco version has virtually disappeared. It is silly, but I find the Mateminco brand name way cooler!

Is that going to be the new Manker E14 II?

E-switches make a lot of sense for high-drain lights but I’d be surprised if they get anything about a firmware right on their own. Somebody call ToyKeeper.

Agree! Or Tom, I would not mind Narsil on this one

DELETED.

Sorry, someone doesn't want them to be here.

I don’t know if my opinions are mainstream, but here’s what I want from an e-switch UI:

  • A short-press from off should turn the light on in a reasonable mode. This could be last-used, a decent medium, or high.
  • A short-press from on should turn it off.
  • There should be a shortcut from off to the lowest mode without turning on in a higher mode first.
  • There should be a shortcut from off to the highest mode if that’s not what’s used for the short-press.
  • If there are blinky modes, it should be very difficult to access them by accident. Things like short-press to change modes with double-click to strobe are incredibly obnoxious.
  • It would be nice to be able to cycle through modes in both directions.

Plus the usual good mode spacing, LVP and such.

Thanks for the info freeme!

That machine-translation sounds like they translated the BLF-A6 user interface for e-switch. That may actually be a nice UI.

I’m certainly in for a GB now.

Well , if this GB happen I’m pretty sure you will have a Narsil driver coming your way

Maybe they did like the Convoy BD series and put a power-cut switch on the side, using clicky firmware?

The stuff about downshift and anti-touch lock doesn’t seem to fit that theory though.

I like the looks of both versions. Looks better than the s41

I’d be in for an aluminum version with an extension tube for an 18650. Ideally, aluminum with copper, Not fond of the stainless steel

Sounds like you are describing Narsil ramping. Maybe could have blinkies a little more difficult to access. Right now if at max, dbl click goes to an intense strobe, but if you don't want strobes at all, they can be disabled in the configuration.

Weird, sounds like some kind of hybrid UI... Some of A6, some Manker style in there with breathing mode, etc. Plus USB charging.

I don’t mind if strobe exists. I just want it to be hard to get by accident, and I don’t want it to take up a convenient action that could be used for something I’ll actually use. I’ve only ever used strobe to annoy people (all three of them deserved it), and that’s just not an important use case for me.

Strobe is big with law enforcement, even special ops guys use it. I've gotten that from direct sources, two different sources from seals. They prefer a dedicated switch, even dedicated light, so there's no mistakes.

Sure, it makes sense for that, but most e-switch lights aren’t really meant for LE/military/self-defense. Things like the Klarus XT series with a dedicated strobe button are great designs for that, but it seems to me that a lot of manufacturers don’t have a clue who they’re designing for.

Tac Strobe Mode lets people feel like they’re special-ops, even if they only ever use their fancy tactical light to walk the dog.

I’d say it’s ridiculous for people to pretend such silly things, but, coming from me, it’d be terribly ironic.

The more of your posts I read the more you remind me of another member of an ad&d group I was with in the 80s. Intended as a compliment - it brings back fond memories.

:+1: S41-ish with a side switch. The black aluminum baked hickory brown in contrast to the copper would be a great companion to my s41.

Nice find

Whaaat? This is no game! This is my life!

But seriously. Roleplaying on a forum where literally no one else does… isn’t awkward at all.

Stop looking at me like that.
