haikelite MT01 Trekker Test & pictures outdoor

Hi friends

This is a-guai , a flashlight-enthusiast and Outdoor-travel enthusiast from china.

I received a MT01 sample sponsored by Haikelite company.

It’s my first time to post here, if i make any mistake, please be kind to correct me.

All my collections are AA , AAA size small light. Personally i dont like big flashlights very much.

MT01 is my first 3x18650 form flashlight, it’s smaller than i thought, very compact size. I like the design and shape.
2200 OTF lumens with 100 minutes constant brightness, this light is really a practical light for outdoor travels or working.

Share some beautiful photos first ;

Packing is made of some kind of PVC, a light but very solid nice box.

Now open it up. a flashlight ; O rings ; lanyard and a manual

HaikeLite in my hand; My hands are very small as a man , but still very handy to carry it. Anodizing surface finish feels good, not slippy at all in a sweating hand.

Since my hand is small, It’s hard to imagine the real size of MT01.

Now compared MT01 with other 18650 lights side by side.

From left to Right: Olight r50 ; JETBEAM T4pro ; MT01

Size and Weight

From my measurement , the net weight is 320 gram ; Size: 140mm length ; 53mm head diameter ; 43mm body diameter. Considering the size and weight, it’s not an EDC light , however as i said , it’s a very practical light in work and daily life.

With batteries, it weighs 464 gram

Really like the black finish

Emitter, Lens and Reflector:

MT01 uses the newest CREE XHP50 v2 , i heard it has better light efficiency. The reflector is not SMO , but a Micro orange pill finish. Emitter is well centered, that is nice.
Anti reflector coating Lens also looks clean and nice.
Bezel is flat and made of stainless steel.

Aluminum Reflector size: 46mm diamter and 25mm height, 14.5 gram weight

2mm lens

Take the bezel apart

emitter inside:
There are 2 screws to fasten the DTP MCPCB. The wires seems like #20 or #22, i am not sure, Haikelite have not reply me. Intergrated emitter shelf is nice for heat-cooling.

The emitter

Cooling grease on pcb

Switch:

The switch is electic switch and solid rubber boot. Clicking and changing modes is smooth and convenient. But personally i like metal switch more. The black rubber switch gets ash and dirty easy, you have to clean it.

Cooling fins , 5 cooling fins are thick and deep. MT01 has very nice heat transmission, i can hold the light in a outdoor camping all the time on high mode.

Three logos

I think the “MT01” logo should have been engraved harder.

the landyard hole is big enough to attach the SS claw of the landyard, but i am afraid SS claw will wear out the anodizing surface.

The backcover can be taken off. But you can not put in the batteries from the back.

head and body apart; trapezoidal threads is nice and smooth. 3 threads is a bit less, maybe 4-5 threads is more stable, not sure, but each thread is strong enough.
All threads are anodised.

Disassemble the driver… nice looking driver

The body from upside. As you can see, the edge of the un-anodizing part is not identical. What? The upside edge is thicker and the downside edge is thinner. the factory should be aware of this.

1 or 2 or 3 pcs of battery can work well due to the boost driver

Beam Shot

My version is CREE XHP50 NW 5000K , The edge of beam has a little bit green. Beam is nice , no pwm, NW tint is kind of yellow.

50 lumens extreme low mode, 1.5 meters from wall

Outdoor 50meters distance

HaikeLite MT01 2200 Lumens

Olight R50 2500 Lumens

Jetbeam T4pro 2580 Lumens

Beam angle

Waterproof test IPX8 (underwater 2 meters, but i have no suitable tool to test it underwater 2 meters, i drop the light to a small fishbowl and let it last 10 minutes)

Turn the light on and off underwater from time to time

Soak the turned-on flashlight into the water for more than half an hour; It works all good, waterproof test passed.

Continue at post #2 and #3

Sorry for the rough and simple review and bad chi-english.

Thanks for reading.

a-guai

Sorry for coming back late. I am busy with my job.

Runtime test:

MT01 2200 Lumens —Uncooled condition

Room temprature 26℃,without cooling,Use 3x Sansumg 35E,Voltage 4.185V、4.189V and 4.175V.

turn on 2200 Lumens mode,Beam is 1 meter distance from the luxmeter, Recording the date every 6 seconds, 10 sets of recording date in 1 minute , Total 1900 sets of date, Then i get the full illumination curve.

Below is my self-made box device

As you can see,It starts at 47200LUX from 1 meter, Not until 1089 sets of recording date, the illumination comes to 40 000 Lux. It means the runtime is 108.9 minutes on 2200 lumens mode. All the process is very stable and smooth. Good current regulation performance

2200 lumens , without cooling

On 1090th Set( 109 minute) , the illumination goes down to 39800LUX. On 114.2 minutes, the illumination goes down very fast to 11480LUX. The brightness remains the same from 114 minutes to 133.3 munites.

Then on 133.3 munites the flashlight starts to flash to alert low-voltage. On 170.5 Minute , the flashlight shut down.

Now i took out the batteries , All at 2.87V , nice cut-off voltage

1 Thank

Conclusion:

Pros:

  1. Perfect driver. Brightness on high mode mantains for 100 minutes without step-donw, all functions seems good.
  2. Good brightness space
  3. good anodization
  4. size is compact for a 3x18650 flashlight

Cons:

  1. Logo is not in line with the switch
  2. Triangular tailcap design makes the tail-standing unstable , especially in wild place.
  3. no moonlight mode
4, Beam is green, perhaps all xhp50.2 has this issue.
5, I dont like rubber button switch, occasionally it fails to turn on & off.

I was told they have done some improvements in new MT01 lights.

1 Thank

Thanks for the review. Interested to see some beam shots. How does it handle the heat when running continuously on high mode?

thank you. I am working on uploading the photos. I used a small fan to cool the light on high mode runtime test. would try to put it in the water to test again.

all tests are ready, except the runtime test on middle low and extreme low mode.

wow

great first post!

thanks for thr nice pictures

(could you please make them.smaller ;) )

thanks

sure, what size should i make? 500px or 800px? still have a lot of beam photos

Nice! I have one on the way. I do like these Haikelite’s. Good pics. Thanks TBO

Thanks for the nice review so far, :THUMBS-UP: could you take some pictures outside please. I think I go for the CW version.

is it 6V or 12V led, the 12V will make sense because it uses 3*18650

6V xhp50, the 3*18650 are lined in parallel

Will added some more pictures when i have time. I also ordered a cw xhp50.2 , have not received it.

Thanks backpack, I hope you will get the CW version very soon. Maybe you can do some beam shots between the NW and CW version.

Thanks for the review, just ordered it!

Thanks for the review updates so far, and the effort you’ve put into the review. As well as aforementioned heat handling on high, I’m interested to know the beam profile and angle (light vertical against white wall).

here it is

Excellent. Thanks!

Incredible photos! Thank you!

Very nice, thank you

Can you try a driver mod with resistors?
And can you make some more pics from the driver? Is there a R020 Resistor?
