Supfire L5-S, dual switch, 1 x 26650

I’m specifically interested in the dual switch version, so if the pics are accurate or not doesn’t really help as you can’t actually see if the light in that store has a tail switch or not. The descriptions are not all that helpful either: “rear pillar design big drum, and put an end to skip files happening better compatibility pointed flag battery :person_facepalming:

Yeah, found them 50 pieces stores too. I did find some shop that sold single lights, but they costed over $70. I’ll just wait until they are available in the usual stores.

Here's the L5-S listed on the manufacturer's site: http://www.supfireenglish.com/Products/led_flashlight/medium_flashlight/2016/1231/128.html

Here's the L5-L2 listed: http://www.supfireenglish.com/Products/led_flashlight/medium_flashlight/2014/0613/52.html

What I call rev 1 is no longer, but is the one shown on several Ali stores, with black rubber switch.

The L5-S - is 7 mm longer, 145 vs 152, and 14 g heavier.

I know what your saying because I’m a BLF’er. I don’t think Supfire ever called it rev1, rev2, etc…

Yea, I know they never called it by a rev # too. Never said or claimed they did, I just wanted a way to differentiate them. I didn't realize they still list and sell the one with the alum switch. I thought the tailswitch/USB model was the next generation, but apparently not - they are keeping the two models.

I have received a reply from that Aliexpress seller with the L5 photo having the old, first version switch.

“Fan Zhou: Hi!
This is the old version of the picture, and now our L5 switch is white.
We will update the picture recently. ”

So the present offering from there is the ver 2, no tailcap switch and a white/silver side button. Officially Supfire calls that an L5-L2

Funny - I got the same message. I'm asking them now if what they sell has the tail switch and USB charging. White switch could mean either model maybe.

Good to know though, at least it's new inventory and price is decent.

:+1:

Ok, they have the L5-S, and it cost $3 more, so for $27.50. You have to make it out with them, they bump the price, you pay, and get the L5-S... Oh boy.

Hey, good to know. :+1:

Maybe they will give it a seperate listing soon.

Well, I amazed myself this morning. :open_mouth: I removed the 7135 and replaced it with one I had removed in another project. And it was a success!! The driver works again. I have no idea why it failed, but there we are.

Well done Don.

Just so I’m clear on the specs, the driver was about 29 millimeter and the emitter is maybe 30 millimeter?

What kind of drain do you get using a driver that is zener modded?

I just heard back from FFRAN Tech Store and they said it’s a new light and that they will be launching it soon. You can still buy early like was mentioned before. Just contact them and they will set it up. I got a price of $28.50 with usb cable

This is pretty cool. I could turn it into a mini L6. Squeeze in a FX30 driver, a pair of 26350 then an xhp70.

(I prefer a reflector beam shape over a TIR lens)

The MCPCB is 20 mm
The driver is an odd size with the two “ears” protruding. If the USB charger is not kept the easiest method to mount a new driver may be to strip the stock driver and simply use it to piggyback a new driver.

I have not measured any amps at all. Just lumens out the front.

Okay, it was the older L5 that had the big mcpcb.

I just ordered two directly from SupFire, flashlight only (no cells or chargers). Total including shipping to Sweden was $55.70.
I asked if they would sell hosts only, answer was no.

I ordered one a couple days ago to make a mini Convoy L6. Unfortunately 26350 batteries are too expensive to get at the moment.

I’m having a hard time getting it out. Did you need to heat it up or just use a lot of force? Does it screw out normally or have reversed threads like some Convoy hosts have?

Got my L5-L2 Monday. It does have the alum switch, no USB charging - it's what I wanted.

Hmmm. I had very little difficulty unscrewing it. I used my spanner tool, applied a little force and it came loose. It is a normal right hand thread, so CCW to unscrew.

This tool.
