Balder SE-1 or Xeno E03? (Both are within a couple bucks of each other and both are now Xml so- which to get?)

Yeah, it feels cheapy, but mine works very well ATM. I'd paid 50c. more for a better switch for sure.

Nope (Matts pic)

BTW, don't know why, but I prefer anodized threads. Feels better and smoother to me.

Xeno E03 does not use PWM, not even 5kHz. I wasn't able to measure any. That is a major issue for quite a few flashaholics, and usually for 30 bucks lights you definitely get visible PWM.

Also E03 has NW and WW options.

Anyone know where we can get replacement switches for the Xeno?

'Tellin ya, just remove the switch from the tail and soak that bad boy in wd-40. It works like a charm (no replacement needed).

I would be interested in a forward clicky though....

Thanks man :) I just got mine a few days ago and I'm loving it so far. Got my 14500's today and I'm charging them. Can't wait to see how bright this thing can get!

Are you sure it works?

Of course :)

I don't have either ...

but

I'd buy the xeno

I'm always right :P

I also dont have either...but I do like the Xeno due to the awesome looking blue color it had. Black gets a bit boring all the time...

Forgot to mention: Balder doesn't tailstand properly, Xeno does.

Just put a 14500 in my Xeno, and man is this thing bright! The low isn't that low anymore, but that doesn't bother me at all :)

My SE-1 just died. :(

Plus one for the Xeno.

Just for the hell of it... I went outside and threw my xeno about 50 feet into the air, and let it land on gravely/grassy area, works perfect and didn't flicker at all..

Looks more like purple to me. Still looks cool though

I have the Xeno E03 and E15... no Balder. But, from what I have seen in pics, the Balder doesn't appear as well-built. I really wish the Xeno had a firefly mode and a pocket clip! GITD o-ring & tailcap, choice of tints, quality knurling & threads, tailstanding (great during blackouts with XML emitters), steel bezel... easily beats the Balder (in my opinion). I wish Xeno made a single CR123 light, or at least a CR123 version of their E15, complete with 1 or 2 cell capability! Any way to relay this to the guys at Xeno?

*edit* Also wanted to add that the positive terminal spring is a nice touch. I have broken two lights by dropping them on their heads and having the cell smash the board. One was a Jet Beam IBS and the other was a Solarforce L2r with their drop-in.

50 feet is High......... That's higher than dropping it off of the average sized suburban house roof.

yea, I threw it as high as I could and be accurate enough it wouldt land somewhere it wasn’t suppose too

Your SF drop-in had no spring?

Ah, yeah... sorry. The drop-in has a spring. The battery force was enough to bust the soldering holding it to the module. Maybe if it were a smaller board, the spring would have been enough to make the difference.

i found the xeno on ebay for $26 shipping included. waiting with anticipation for delivery. my decision based on looking a little less tactical. hope i made the rite one.
