Thrunite TN 42 ,a new record in Throw

I feel bad for you. It is NOT your responsibility to fix a defect. I would get very direct and tough w/ them as possible, being polite of course.

Somehow Thrunite or HKE[?] where you got it, is RESPONSIBLE for repair or replacement at their expense.

When my TN32 Emitter fried after just 5 days and I posted pictures on CPF,Guess who was the Second to respond? David, the owner of Thrunite! He was concerned about his reputation and being that I bought it from Illumn in the states where I live, there was no problem,I had a new light in 3 days!

here it is:

CPF link below that!

Send it back!

But first I would check the traces around that 125 sense resistor in between those 2 what look to be 7135’s and see if there is any solder or splatter crossing over and touching one of them 7135’s?

Could be a bad resistor too?

I just took 2 brand new out of the box TN42’s and pulled the driver cap off each, and from what I seen with a 10X magnifying glass was a lot of splatter from when they soldered the Driver bypass spring and the Red Jumper wire!

Underneath the Brass contact button you will find a bypassed driver spring. Then just like the Photo’s show a Red 22-20awg jumper wire with a heavy solder connection on one side. Suspect that’s where the splatter came from. I usually shit can the brass button for less resistance/ driver efficiency any way!!

I have NEVER heard of a Manufacturer giving such explicit instructions in how to deal with a problem. That’s great, if you ask me! They’re LISTENING!

That’s kinda what I was thinking too.

I’m new to lights and I’ve purchased a bunch of Thrunite lights this year. I just received #6 today.
I had a small issue with an accessory part on one light and they were quick to address it. I’m impressed.

So what happens when your an amateur like me and screw it up more? Who is responsible then? I bet you I would be. They would not want it back after that!

Someone like me[no modding skills] I would NOT even touch it,like I said it is the manufacturers responsibility. Plain and simple.

I totally agree, it is the manufactures responsibility.

But FlashMax is not in the good ole’ USA.

And “if I recall correctly” he said somewhere shipping was a long drawn out process for him as well as a somewhat problematic.

IF he thinks he can handle it…. AND wants to give it a shot…… why not.

Otherwise, definitely go another route.

Hi all, the last answer received states that it si a bug that they will fix in the next mass solution. It seems that they have received more htan one complain about this issue and figured out how to fix it. And yes, as Teacher said, shipping or getting a product from overseas is really problematic and time consuming issue here. I guess that I will desolder it or living with it unscrewing the tube when not in use.

Thank you for the update FlashMax. :+1: … Interesting.
Sorry for your trouble, but at least you got to the bottom of it.

I hope that all this topic can help other eople with the same issue

I hope so too Max. Thanks for pushing through and getting to the bottom of it. :+1:

It’s been pretty common here on BLF for folks to modify a flashlight, whether it needed it or not. We are not merely budget minded at the onset of a purchase, but also when it comes to keeping one running or making sure it’s running optimally. Long story short, BLF takes it upon itself to do what needs to be done, from an emitter upgrade to a complete new driver design, we pick up the mantle for getting it done, simple as that.

How else do you account for so much of CPF’s membership joining here?

Edit: It would be amiss of me to not say that I’m proud to have been a part of all this carrying of the torch, the last few years. (as it were…) Thank you sb56637 for making and keeping it possible. :+1:

^

I would say there is a small percentage of CPF members on here compared to BLF members and vice versa.

I have no idea what the numbers would be. Under 5% for both would be my guess.

The difference that has been brought up on here is that CPF gets bashed a helluva lot more on here than BLF gets bashed on CPF.In fact BLF is rarely mentioned or bashed on CPF.

I have been a member of both for closing in on 4 years[8.5.2013 CPF] [10.13.2013 BLF] :sunglasses:

The simple fact of the matter wolfdog is that there have been several very successful group buys here that have attracted a plethora of new members, many coming from the other side. It is what it is.

As far as bashing goes, well, that’s been discussed to death already and we’d be much better off laying off that subject.

We were once a smaller forum with a family feel, a lot of the regulars knew and respected each other and it gave us here a unique perspective. There used to be more humor, sometimes quotes ran 10 to 15 deep and more, and we almost always went off topic in virtually every thread. We now have a LOT more members, the close knit family feel is not so much the same, but we have managed to continue bringing it with new developments and ever increasing outputs. Which, of course, draws more new members and so it goes… ImissFoyapprovalandJustinchallengeswhileChicagoXgrooveson.

I agree with a plethora of new members coming when there is a group buy. I am just basing it on the 30Q/GA GB.

I noticed probably 2 or 3 Dozen names/new members I never saw before. On the other hand, very few if any appeared to be CPF members unless they changed their identity!

Hi dears, I finally contacted HKequipment (seller) and asked about follow the Thrunite instructions on how to repair the issue. They answered as follow: “If you follow the instruction from Thrunite to repair yourself. It will not void the warranty” and asked about serial number for reference. I guess it is good news for me.

Excellent……. :+1:

Again, just a straight forward heads-up reply from Thrunite with excellent customer service and fully standing behind their product! Sweet!

Is isopropyl alcohol an AR friendly lens cleaner by the way? All the description says is that it’s 70% isopropyl alcohol. When i wet some tissue paper and dab the lens with it it leaves behind liquid stains and i don’t know why. I hope it’s not actually dissolving the AR coating?

I don’t really know the answer .

Some lens that are just AR coated , and don’t have any other coatings (like AF coating that some companies call it) , are really hard to clean .

More lenses will clean great with a soft microfiber cloth .
