Got mine, put an XPL-Hi and Bistro in it. Impressive but had trouble getting ther reflector down to the emitter while preventing shorts, has a donut hole. I plan on trying to file it down to see if that will work. A better pill will be ideal
I received mine today . Good anodization , and reflector is great . Mine also came with a decent centering ring , a regular (convoy c8 style) black one .
26mm mcpcb is the way to go … sanded the pill and added a piece of copper in the old mcpcb place .
I will upload more info once i finish the mod .
tip: thin the base of the reflector as much as possible and do the same for the led centering piece.
Hmm , i was thinking not modding the reflector and have a centering ring as thin as it can be .

Maybe mod the MCPCB?
Cut grooves on the under side of the MCPCB (with diamond coated disc for example), bend the contacts down, file the bottom flat?
Sanded the centering ring , now it is paper thin . Used the stock LED , dedomed .
With a VTC5A running at 4.75A , i got 203kcd and 1420 lumens .
I think i can gain some more mA with a lower resistance fet and some shorter wires , i might give it a try . Also , i don’t like the glass , on the next one i will be using an AR coated .
With the 26mm mcpcb , there is no issue with led wires…
Everything is possible and I wanted to try similar but I change my mind. I don’t want to fiddle and destoroy everything because of 5$ 26mm mcbcb.
Btw even with 16mm mcpcb soldered very flat(as flat as possible to ± contacts) will bring 260kcd with old type xp-g2

Edit: About glass… Good and proper glass cleaning can help a lot, and imho with ar glass there will not be any gain(at least ime with old jacob A60 modding… Beautiful? It is but is it worth? Not to me.)

Love the mod George. I’ve been looking at the pill from one of these with a million ideas going through my head how to fit the wires through the pill. You have hit the nail on the head. Thanks for posting up. I know what I’m doing tonight.

The copper plate under the mcpcb has exactly the shape of a led mcpcb , it has 2 cut-outs for wires to pass on the sides , and cut the sides of the pill with the dremel . If you need any help , just ask , maybe i can explain it better .

You should try it out with a dded W2 emitter: i did the mod today and i got nearly 2k lumens at 6.2 amps and 256k cds: with the casual glass, those numbers are very close to my heavy modded XPLV6 Olight M2X( the light i like most from all my throwers)
This time i used a t20 blass pill and the emitter`s mcpcb is soldered to it
The pill is defilately different from the first one that i got and they “nerfed” it, i hope they wont continue with those nerfs in future, there are so many of those ” low dollar yet good ” throwers
How did the t20 pill fit in there ?

arrived to country several days ago and then things went south, 2 days later package was delivered to someone that lives 400 kilometers away…
So cheating chinese give me fake tracking number and probably never shipped the light, even after warning him about it he insisted that the package is at my local post office…

As far as i know Cutter has them, for Europe - Arrow EU and Farnell
We are talking XPL W2's? Not XPL2 W2's?
On Cutter, I can only find them on a triple board (http://www.cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut2752), then in the description it says they are V4's, so who knows what you really get.
On Arrow.com (US?), definitely no W2 bins of XPL's
I'd really like to see a link - dunno how to get to Arrow EU. Not familiar with Farnell at all...
