If you want to do that, it would be cool. There aren’t many of those at BLF, particularly ones which can handle 80 Watts with smooth ramping like the Q8. So if you can make that work, a lot of people would probably like it. But it won’t be relevant for the Q8 project; it’s far too late for a change like that. Perhaps the next project?
Wow using only 2 GA cells
It kicked in LVP
So I started stopwatch
After about 1 minute 25 sec it stepped down again
1m20s again
~52m again
~7m
~3
~33
~1h,32m
Still too bright to look directly into the LEDs.
And when waking it still worked. At ~12 hours now, after the cells have reached LVP on two cells.
This is awesome for the first 2,5-3,5 hours it was giving so much light I use normal lights at that brightness.
The ceiling bounce app crashes but will try to get it running for I would love to see a graph on the runtimes. Starting on turbo with 1 minute stepdown for then it won’t get too hot
Yes, the 3-blade design is gone, Miller asked to bring it back in the final version and unexpectedly that appeared quite a problem for Thorfire. Because it was not really a big deal we did not ask further to find out what was so difficult about it and left it at that.
LVP should not be kicking in after only a minute of use. Even with only 2 cells it should last quite a bit longer then that if they were fully charged when you turned it on.
I have run my 10K lumen SRK’s with a single cell before and it didn’t step down in the few minutes I plaid with it (was trying to see how hot it got with only one cell).
Two GA:s (fully charged) should (easily) be able to deliver 20A without too much voltage drop, even 30A for a while (until they get too hot).
Check HKJ:s test:
Hey I did not say LVP kicked in after 1 minute, I said stepdown
Have not done a full runtime test for can’t get the ceiling bounce app to work.
Stepdown is the name for turbo stepdown.
Sure the GAs were used a lot when the LVP kicked in lol
Sorry JasonWW, I remember reading your post and thought I reacted via quote, must have turned off the phone before it was actually posted, apologies.
Yes what Djozz said, we did not ask about it, also from my point of view others said they liked the four blade and this is not important in function and even for not the most looked at section.
Oh come on….
OK I used the Q8 with 2 cells GA
At a certain time it blinked 3 times and went to a lower mode.
I grabbed the phone and started stopwatch, results see above.
After 12 hours I stopped to see what the voltage of the cells were (Q8 was shining to bright to look directly in the LEDs but not very bright) and they were 3,14V
Heheh yeah before the runtime test on LVP it had kicked in LVP, kind of hard to do a test on LVP if it is not in LVP
All the way down, below my results I described how I would like to do a run test with the ceiling bounce app, and there I write setting stepdown at 1 minute for keeping the temp nice and low. Stepdown, it yeah it is tricky and glad it is clear now
