[GB ended,discussion only] CRI > 80+ NICHIA 2000K-6500K [E21A/219B/219C/319A/144A/757GT-F1(Optisolis)]

A pox upon the bureaucrats. Thanks for putting up with that crap (at least in part) for our benefit.

Thank you….xx

Good luck fighting the pencil pushers.

Looking forward to the next collection.

I finally had time to put together an X6 triple using three 219C R9050 sm403 emitters and the result is beautiful. Using the Ledil optic I get absolutely perfect tint. Depending on the output tint deviation i.e. Duv is anywhere from –0.0008 to 0.0019. So practically no noticeable shift either way. CCT is 3970-4022 K. CRI Ra 91-94 R9 63-76, again better on the lower modes.

Here’s the max mode with dr.jones h17f.

Oh no… all that fine Nichia goodness sitting in a crate not getting to move. Just within reach, yet so far away. I need a bunch of the 219B 9080’s when the break loose.

Excited to see what’s in store when the nichias are finally free. I would like to play with some more nichia emitters.

The 9080 B’s have an amazing tint. Very unique with the spike in the red band.,

Looking forward to 9080 at 4000K.

Is it possible to PM me when the 219B 9080 are back in stock, or will be soon? I want to buy a batch of those. Thanks!

Ditto! (Just saw this thread…)

OK, almost there. After 2 weeks speeding to many places on a scooter (almost 300km total). The license should be out in less than five working days……IF I’m lucky to get it. There are 119 license applicants queue there. And the officer told me they’re ran out of license paper. Need to wait for another shipment from Jakarta….OMD!

And then another steps to register that license to the custom at the import department to get import permit.
Then another steps to DHL to let them use that import permit for me…
If I can’t get it on time then the government will take those Nichias to the auction. The worse case scenario would be to bid for my own stuff at the auction :weary: :person_facepalming:

When we get them then we know this is not just another Nichias. I really envy China for this…

I’ll keep you guys updated

Interested in the 9080 too.

Omg. That’s insane. All the best Clemence. We are rooting for you!

Wow, the plot thickens. I guess that if you are Indonesian, you are not supposed to run a business with international contacts.
Indonesia I guess has rich enough resources to get away with shady regulations and still maintain an acceptable standard of living?

Exporting is easier than importing. This time the company I used to import Nichia for BLF, refused to place another order because he still had enough LED for his project. That’s the root of the problem.
Indonesia is indeed very rich with resources yet the corruptions are still very high. The current government has a very good job to reduce it by MUCH. And it also try to get as much tax as it’s should because less than 50% of Indonesian pay taxes. So now they force anyone to fill up and renew the license because those old license holders mostly got theirs from bribing the officers (false highly inaccurate datas etc…).
The good news is the current government value honesty and gives off big discount (less import tax for importers) while banning all those cheaters. The problem with my case is they didn’t give any notification prior, not widely available to the public. This affects all seasonal importers like me.

+1

Good luck Clemence!

A good bonus to you and all of us is if you also sell noctigons. I am pretty sure 90% of everyone here would be buying noctigons for our builds on these Nichias.

Also,
Wish you luck is in your favor!

And also an unnecessary bonus in additional price. Buying Noctigons directly from Hank (Intl-outdoor.com) is faster, easier, and cheaper. I bought many from him for personal uses only. He’s currently has one of the best commercial DTP boards in the world (if I ignore the red masking paint).

Thank you Clemence for all you do.
I pray this fiasco turns out for the best.

I polished up my first 144A light today (fixed LVP and modes ect).

I used one of my first “real” lights from over 10 years ago as the host. An ultrafire WF-500 : http://www.dx.com/p/ultrafire-wf-500-3-cree-flashlight-2x18650-7933

It is actually a pretty nice host, very well made. The only downside is that it is a P60 style light with no thermal path to the outside. So I stuffed the cavity full of aluminum foil to take care of that. Careful with the pill though, there is a screw holding it together behind the driver.

I put 3x 144A 4500k 90CRI LED’s in it on djozz’s mcpcb’s and just used an old school FET only zener modded driver I had left over (you might be getting the idea by now that this was a “use what I got in the spare parts bin project, you would have guesses correct).

I then used really really long 26awg wires in order to reduce the current, as much wire as would fit in the driver cavity.

Setup the old star firmware to a few modes and fired it up.

Pulls about ~5A off of some laptop cells and ~7.5 off 30Q’s.

It was making about 3500 lumens @ 5A and I tested it on the bench prior to installing it and it reached over 5k lumens at 10A. Not bad at all.

It did have the egg yolk beam issue, even with the triple, Slicing the dome on one of them helped but didn’t fix it. It did cause a loss in output though.

So I decided to turn it into a flooder photo light of sorts. I added some DC Fix to the glass and they cleaned the beam right up and made it a lot more floody. Dropped the lumens some, now it sits right around 3000 OTF with laptop cells between the sliced dome and the DC fix but it is an amazing tint and really nice.

Heat is also about right, it can handle the ~5A until the cells die without overheating, so glad I went with the thin wires.

Overall a nice light that I am finding myself using more and more for up close stuff.
