Convoy C8 remote tail switch

Hi all

After hunting with a couple of mates who have got Maxtoch’s (the are popular here in NZ) I decided that I didn’t really need quite that much light, and after doing a lot of reading here, settled on a one of the new Biscotti Convoy C8’s.

Seeing as how I am going to be using it mostly on a rifle, I ordered the remote tail switch from Simon as well. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Remote-switch-with-convoy-C8-tail/330416_32801326773.html

The remote switch doesn’t quite work as I expected it to though.

The main switch works exactly like the tail switch - full click on/off and half click mode advance.

The secondary switch however is momentary, and turns the light on, but it also advance the mode. This means it’s a bit useless for hunting, as you really want a momentary on that stays in the mode that is in memory.

Has anyone had a play with this remote tail switch? Can I change what the momentary switch does?

Biscotti-based drivers aren’t designed for momentary operation, so there’s unfortunately no way to adjust the tailcap to make it work that way.

However, Biscotti can be configured to a single 100% power mode (mode group 12). If you use that, momentary operation will work as you want it to, albeit at the price of not having any other modes.

One thing to watch is that if you press the momentary switch very quickly many times in a row, the light will go into configuration mode, which may be awkward if it happens at the wrong moment.

OK, thanks for that.

Mode 6 with memory off looks like it might work for me.

Just swapping the clear/silver endcap onto the remote switch now. :sunglasses:
