Hi, Robert.

we have an improved version power supply. The label is marked with extra printing to tell the difference between old one and new one:

NEW ONE!

We have no:17[17 means 2017] used. While the old power adapter donā€™t have this year code info.

year code info.

Concerning fan, this can be a problem.

We can source really good fan, but the price is $5.0 more comparing to the current fan we are using. If you are willing to pay extra $5.0 for this, we can purchase this fan to be used if you are going to order.

We are testing the new power adapter and to make sure we are not having this problem.

Also we are working on a new design, that will get rid of this high current pulse completely. The new design is being revieved technically and once we have sorted out all the problem, we will make a new design.

regards

henry

Hi Henry,

There is NO difference whatsoever with your new power supply except the Number 17 written in the bottom right corner! ALL the specs are exactly the same!

I already used my own money to buy the fan and the power supply. I was making these suggestions for future customers and possible purchases.

This is a picture of my FAILED POWER SUPPLY! Looks just like your supposed improved one, minus the #17 in bottom right corner. ā€œrdanaā€ will not be happy either.

Sincerely, Robert

Well, is a power supply honestly meeting those specs going to be adequate?
Could be they got cheated on the first batch of power supplies and they werenā€™t up to spec.
Someone like Gauss could comment on the spec (probably already has somewhere above)

Chuckle.

Arenā€™t you glad weā€™re not buying anything life-critical from China?

Hey, did you know China has been building a new, economical fission power plant design?
So safe they donā€™t waste money putting a containment building around it ā€¦.

Love the quote! I should have known better! How stupid does he think we are w/ that phony power supply picture and him saying that,

ā€œThe label is marked with extra printing to tell the difference between old one and new oneā€

lol!!! yaa, the number 17 is written on it w/ the exact same specs!

@wolfdog ā€¦ā€¦ Well, you gave it your best shot with the email. It appears oleā€™ H. Xu thinks we all fell off the turnip truck yesterday.
Oh well, you tried. :+1:
Maybe LiitoKala will beef up the Lii 500 just a bit with a 1A discharge & maybe add a fan. Call it a Lii 550-Plus.
Then we can just boycott OPUS & never buy another one. Which, come to think about it; after all this BS: there is no danger of me ever buying another one anyway.

Now, moving on. You wrote the below & posted it at the exact same time I posted THIS .
Yet you have made no comment/opinion/input of my post referencing your email to Henry Xu. What are you waiting on? .

I thought it best NOT to make a comment! Since you asked. This is what it would have been, you had to go by my post to make several of your posts.

Would have thought most likely you would have seen and read it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Darn, I should have known better than to even askā€¦. :person_facepalming:
Try to pay you a compliment about your original emai to H Xu & you canā€™t handle it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, after telling you your email looked just fine & that you seemed to have covered everything wellā€¦ā€¦ Most of what ā€œIā€ said was agreeing with or expounding upon what Speed4goal had said.

With the exception of course being the part about having to spend money to fix it.

Reading comprehensionā€¦ā€¦ Priceless!!!

You know what fellasā€”this charger isnā€™t worth all this ā€”itā€™s just a charger is allā€”it has limits/flaws like everything else we purchaseā€”we all know how this stuff is manufactured ā€” CHEAPā€”- somethings can be fixedā€”some canā€™t

So ā€¦ so ā€¦ instead of improving the power supply, theyā€™re trying to eliminate the current draw pulse that overwhelms the power supply.

Maybe.

And in the meanwhile, theyā€™ve told the power supply builder to quit using chewing gum in place of good capacitors, or something?
(since itā€™s the identical model, identical spec, but the label changed ā€œplus 17 on the cornerā€)

I can see a meme possible here for reviewers:

ā€œWe found this to be a mediocre product, the manufacturer should put 17 on the corner to improve it ā€¦. ā€

You have a point there,However, I am going to continue to exchange emails with him and get answers until ā€œMY PEOPLEā€ get the kickbacks necessary to reimburse ALL of us 100 fold! :+1: :sunglasses: :smiling_imp:

This should have been revealed in the FIRST email!

to me
Hi, Robert.

The power supply has its internal design changed completely. we have minimum over current protection from previous 6A to 7A, and its output power capability is also higher.

we are making more testing to confirm this.

What kind of power you are expecting us to use? can you make any suggestion? you mean with 12v 5A rate power supply?

henry

Hi Henry,

Why didnā€™t you provide that information[specs] in the first email? If your promoting a new design it would be nice to provide pertinent information instead of being vague!

In regards to the power supply.

-The one provided for my charger[KYT120300BV] was inadequate and failed as described in my initial email.

- The one I bought myself is very high quality[LITE-ON 12V/5.5A/66W]

-Your NEW design is yet to be used and proven sufficient.

To further answer your question: Whether it is 3a/4a/5a ect. It NEEDS to the job. That is your companies responsibility.

I hope it works well for the people who buy the charger. For me and a few others it is irrelevant because we have already used our own money for replacements.

None of us are buying these things to have to figure out what is wrong with them and then patch them up.

So what are the specs of this new fan that will be an additional $5 and who is the manufacturer?

Cheers,Robert [Wolfdog1226]

Good response to his belated email. :+1:

Why in the world he would not say that in his first response to you is beyond me. :person_facepalming:

Keep it upā€¦

Hank,

I hope your not mad at me for borrowing the quote. ā€œNone of us are buying these things to have to figure out what is wrong with them and then patch them upā€.

It was a perfect quote to use in my rebuttal!

I have been writing poems and quotes for a long time. I enjoy philosophical, meaningful, simple and direct communication, especially when it is written.

I will share this with you. I wrote this yesterday morning before the suicide bomber in Manchester UK struck.

To me it is eerie, to others it may be a coincidence.

ā€œIf people could be more like Dogs the world would be a better place. There would be much LESS conflict and violence, instead there would be true harmony and grace.ā€

Well said wolfdog!!! :+1: I agree also, that was the ā€œperfect quote to use in your rebuttal!ā€

I also have a suspicion that hank is in no way ā€œmadā€ that you used it. He is a team player as most all of us are. :+1: Personally, I am estatic you found the quote, taken from post #678; so useful in your rebuttal. It definitely had a ring of honesty & truth to it!!! :+1:

Oh yeah, Iā€™m not mad that you used it eitherā€¦ā€¦ I am, as previously stated; most pleased you found it useful.
.

I think it is time to pass the torch. Why donā€™t you take over now?

Then again, there is really nothing left for him to tell us! Whoever buys the new Opus package can report its successes or failures.

I have done a lot of thinking the last hour. It is time for me to focus on finding a job instead of spending valuable time trying to get answers for something[Opus Charger] that at this point is irrelevant to me. There is no need for me to get frustrated anymore.

> ā€œNone of us ā€¦.ā€

I quoted that bit from Teacherā€™s earlier post above. I shouldā€™ve cited it to:

Also: ā€œWhat Gauss said!ā€ about keeping the conversation working well. Good advice there.

Hmmmmmn, well said gauss. :+1: Kinda nailed me right between the eyes, :person_facepalming:
I have been somewhat critical of Mr Xu. And basically, he has forgotten more than I know. :open_mouth:

Mr. Xu, should by some miracle you read this; my apologies for any criticism I aimed in your direction. You have been responsive to Mr. Robertā€™s emails and that at least says you are listening. Thank you!!! :+1: ā€¦ And thank you for providing the information you have thus far.
~
@ gaussā€¦.
I do understand what you are saying about the labels gauss, but IMOā€¦ Considering all that has gone on about the power supply, it would have been nice had the information been received in the first response to Robert (wolfdog). Though I do realized, due to the things you mentioned such as language barrier, etc., etc.; That is something that certainly cannot be expected. For example, if I had to correspond with him and answer questions in Chineseā€¦ā€¦ we would all be in a world of hurt.

Awww, come on Robert, donā€™t throw in the towel completely; just choose your battles.
You have found out a ton of information and in finding the ā€œgood informationā€ you have dispelled about 2 tons of what turned out to be ā€œwrong infoā€.
Yeah, I understand about the time involved. I have put a lot of hours reading, researching, and mostly trying to keep up with this. BUTā€¦. I have only a small fraction of the hours in it that you do. You have spearheaded this.

So yeah, do what you have to do about finding work. ; but donā€™t give up on this. You, and to a much lesser degree ā€œweā€ almost have this whipped. And now it is basically just the principle of the thing to see it through.

And besides finding out all this info, you have somewhat brought us together as ā€œFamilyā€. :+1:

I mean look, ; you and gauss are actually talking & communicating without actually biting each others heads off most of the time. That in itself is a tremendous accomplishment!!! :+1:

We have rallied around a cause here on BLFā€¦. ā€œThe Friendly Forumā€ and by durn we have almost become friendly.

  • You have ā€œalmost learnedā€ when and where to use !!! marks. Almost being the ā€˜keyā€™ word there, but you are doing so much betterā€¦ā€¦
  • Even though you have become ā€œfrustratedā€ at times with the situation & others and possibly said a couple of things in hasteā€¦ā€¦ you have always so far bounced back with renewed vigor & pressed on.
  • You still have a bit to go to know when I am ā€œpulling your chainā€ā€¦ ā€¦ but youā€™ll get there.

All this is said in a somewhat comical manner, BUT I am serious about it all Robert.
Do what you have to do, relax & donā€™t get frustrated over this. ; but see it through as your time allows.

No problem at all hank. As it was, it gave Robert a the perfect chance to give me a compliment on something I wrote.

Yes & amen to that. :+1:
.

This whole thread has been something else to watch unfold.

But at least it seems like they play to release a 2.3 version. As long as it discharges down to 2.8 to keep it fairly accurate and it all works Iā€™d get another. And one day in the future plan to even if its the one now. For the most part mine worked 85% of the time as intended. And for $30 investment has given me my moneys worth in a charger. Even though mine charges a little low its the only charger I have that charges to the exact voltage on all 4 slots. Someone mentioned a fix but Iā€™m not comfortable soldering on the board. As $30 for another charger isnā€™t in the budget right now. Its close enough for me.

In the end it seems like something good will come out of it. It seems like they listened and will make a new revision eventually and phase this one out. Like the 2.0, and 2.1 versions.

^

I guess time will tell what they do Speed4goal. I agree with you pretty much. Keep the discharge to 2.8V, address the power supply issue fully, do whatever they can with the heat issue, and it would be nice if cell all came off the charger at right at 4.2V.
We will seeā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦
