a vendor at hamvention was advertising these coleman 3aaa xp-e based lights as the greatest thing since sliced bread.
i know all of us would be unable to refrain from laughing but i told him i had a light from 1939 that would wash his out like it was turned off.
he told me to bring it sunday and he would give me one of his if it did.
i won.
the catch?
it has 2 26650 and a rop low!
and indeed it totally wiped out the coleman.
we will soon see a new member.
and i came up with an 18650 mod on the spot.
he had 18650 for his vape so i tested it right there.
he held back a case of them for family after i showed him that.

Its always great when you get to show off light to light with someone that has no clue what is out there. Usually a edc is many many times brighter don’t even have to break out the big guns.
I know in a rayovac 3xaaa light I was able to cram a flat top 18650 in it and get it to work. Just barely
actually my edc would probably have won.

the coleman is a well made light with modding potential.
the strap wrenches i broke getting it open cost more than the light.
but they were replaced under warranty.
with the note from the store that they are not gorilla proof.
but i only used them to remove a flashlight bezel.
shouldnt they be durable enough for that?
