Jaxman X1s XHP35 HI & XHP50

Discount has to be lower than 34 dollars or I’ll feel ripped LOL

I think it was a introductory price

!

Unless Jaxman themselves want to do the gb itself, I am not optimistic about it from happening, just check this gb on the Z1 I organized in 2014 that went pfffft:

Khas, how high was shipping?

Jaxman sent me a message a while back and I should have one of his new X1S XHP35 lights this week, and he just put up some more lights for sale today and they aren’t the $30 trial run version.
But I think he has some driver issues, sort of the way I read his message anyhow.
He did design a new reflector for it which should be interesting, the original X1’s reflector was fantastic I have a lot of his X1’s and a lot of all of his lights so this should be real interesting.
Not to forget he got rid of the pill and went with integrated shelf, not a big surprise really, sort of expected that sooner or later.
I was reading his XHP35 specs he has in those lights and I don’t know a lot about the XHP35 but those specs just don’t seem right to me, 4000k is not my normal NW tint like he’s selling and I thought with the 35 that the coolest tint was something like 6000K…? I don’t know but do know I have one about to show up so will post what I see, I hope anyhow…

Edit: Forget about GB with Jaxman, seriously, I’ve been through that so many times it ticks me off just thinking back to those days, he won’t do it and it’s hard enough to even try to talk him into selling hosts.

Edit 2: He did today when he dropped those other new X1S lights up for sale on his Alie site, he posted them at like $50 something, but here’s one for you, he has them posted as with FREE shipping,
Now that is absolutely a first.
If you want to buy a old original X1 you can buy them from HK equipment for I think $52 and get free shipping, Paul is… odd… like me… really odd, maybe that’s why we get along, sometimes.

US $ 10.83 for the shipping, seems high but normally I get the order within 14 days so I don’t mind paying more.

And as T18 points out, the shipping is included in the new price so the difference isn’t that great from what I payed.

I can’t seem to find the free shipping X1s anymore. Unless no free shipping to Australia

What driver issues is that? Are the driver issues on the new X1s?

Received the new X1 XHP35 today, either I order the wrong tint or was sent wrong tint perhaps.
Noticed something with LED pulsing on high, reminded me of the Manker breathing LED, haven’t had time to really look at it except to run it up once so will take a closer look at it tomorrow.
The light is nice looking for sure, a much nice design than the old X1 I think.
Also noticed just at a glance what appears to be circular ripples in the reflective coating of the reflector but as mentioned will look at it closer, this is also a new reflector from the old version and now integrated shelf no more pill, bummer.
More info tomorrow…

Jaxman said trial version has breathing strobe. Must be that?
Final version doesn’t have it.

Ya I had been told something about that and looking at it just now it appears to have 4 modes on a forward clicky switch, the 1st mode is this pulsing HIGH, not a strobe, we know what strobes are, this is a high mode and acts like the breathing mode on the Manker U21… isn’t it.??
But that breathing LED was on a switch not coming out of the business end, so this is a completely goofy thing I’m seeing here, but then next mode seems to be another High, med, low back to this high breathing thing.
It’s a bit uncomfortable switching modes mostly because of the rubber he uses in his switch and the switch which is OK but it’s just tough being able to easily flip from mode to mode, spunky and springy at the same time if that makes any sense and then if your used to the old X1 3 modes, throwing in one more High mode with the same old switch assembly as near as I can tell at the moment it’s just awkward feeling to me and I own a lot of Jax’s,
On the good news side of things though besides it being a extremely nice looking light, the mod potential is awesome and KB1428 if you are reading this new X1S is one you might want to look at,
I haven’t tore it completely down yet, but unlike the old X1 with it being all one piece with pill, this is integrated shelf, with a nice looking retainer ring for the driver and the tube in now removable from the head, on that note the threads on the head end of the tube are different than the threads on the tail switch end, the threads on the switch end are the exact same as the old X1 SO, then you will know what that means re: what legos with the old X1 will still lego with this new X1S I just went and tried a couple of Simon’s parts and 2 cell X1S is an absolute and with a different switch assembly no problem,
This is also a new reflector, I originally noticed it in the pics on Paul’s site and mentioned it to him and he confirmed this reflector is a new design,
I like the concept and I see what he was trying to do but I think he might have forgot that a centering ring is sometimes a good idea, and I think the spinning process of coating the reflector might have gone bad, I think I’m seeing ripples in the coating and in the beam profile, but I have to tear this light completely apart and see what is really going on before just yakking about this and that, all I was worried about was if I could lego this light and the answer is yes absolutely so I have happy no matter, guts are guts and they can be got gone quicker than they went in.
I’ve got to contact Paul and see where the other light is, it should have been nearly back to back, so that will give me an even better idea I hope of where the light is going, I think he’s on to a winner here, but that blue O ring in the lens area is weird but not ugly, so got some tearing down to do and get some pics, one last notice I saw was that the switch assembly is a bit different in the lanyard hole department, much nicer and I think there’s a slight improvement in the overall knurling, except the old knurling around the bezel on the old X1 is gone now and when I used an acutal Jax extension for a X1 and looked at the knurling the change is very minimal but perhaps just a tad deeper perhaps, hard to say but it is nice and the stainless bezel I don’t think is reflecting into the beam profile, that I was concerned about but the beam issues I think I’m seeing might be “I thinks” haha,
If you know lights I’d say go for it regardless, only thing I’m not sure of is the price, is it really worth what he bumped it up to…? Maybe if you know about his shipping fee’s and last I looked he said Free shipping and that as far as I know is a first and I’ve been a customer for 3 yrs I think since it was Jax only anyhow, if you mod I think this is going to be a great host if anything, I’m not very concerned about the breathing goofball stuff, I just wanted to know did it lego and yes it does, so all is great for me, it is nice, oh one more notice, the branding is now only on one side not both sides like on the old X1, this makes a cleaner look I think but all the BE Careful it’s hot crap will have to be blacked out with some Birtchwood Casey and then it will look nice and clean, nice looking light for sure, will be contacting Paul and asking him some questions tomorrow, actually it’s already tomorrow in China so might ask him today or not, tired…

Just a funny fact, yesterday when I got the light, I’m not expecting to see anything more than the light turn on in whatever mode, so when I quickly opened the package as I was already late for a dinner thing, I drop in a protected cell a KP 26650 cell that Jax says on their site are not in this world that will work with this light, well not true for starters, Jax has very stiff springs, but you should have some amps, but anyhow I click the light it goes high beam and started to dim and I quickly dropped the cell out of the light, my first thought walking out the door was damn, losing a driver already…? I thought either the driver was on a slow melt down or LED, I had no idea what was going on but knew my cell wouldn’t be doing that, so it was a bit of a surprise seeing it go real bright then slowly start to dim, what would you think immediately…?? ha ha What the *#@@…. ?

Edit: The KP protected cell by the way was the shorter KP, like for L6 recommended by Simon, I never use protected but sometimes on new lights that I know are a first run light I will use a protected just in case, I’ve vented to many cells and when that happens I feel really bugged out … I guess that’s the words for what I feel as my cell is venting… :confounded: Hard shorts aren’t funny to me and Paul I don’t think knows this driver very well and couldn’t tell me much about it so played it safe knowing he is not always very accurate, protected can work.

I like it, but would only buy it if it was cheaper, I would only use it as a host, I just can’t see the point of low performing Boost drivers, for the XHP35, hell the TN42 is 2.15-2.5 amps at the LED, but the Mod potential is there in the X1S, maybe if the price is right!

I like the UT02 with the 30mm T/A Narsil Lexel built drivers, I got a few of them to mod for $28.00 each shipped. An old school de-domed XP-G2 at 6.3+ amps and a XP-L HI V3 1A at 7.05 amps makes for some nice jacket pocket rocket throwers!

I like the Jaxman lights, the X6 Hunter is still one of my favorites, I have 3 of them, in different modifications.

lol no FET ?

Ha Ha, how’d I know you might be watching, you of course are spot on re: this new X1s, tried an originally X1 extension tube and L2 two piece extension sections and switch assembly from L2 still work with this X1s but ya, tear everything out and rebuild it, I got the light for $30 and he’s sending me another one that isn’t supposed to have goofy mode on it,
Just bought a TN35 with the MT-G2 now I need to ask you what I need to do to mod it, heard it’s a good one and that’s why I bought it on a memorial sale for $60, nice sweet beam as is.
I to bought a bunch of the Mankers or I mean UTorch UT02 and 01’s awesome lights for the bucks, unbelievable actually, can’t imagine that mod setup you mentioned must be awesome, I looked at T/A’s offer and sure am thinking down the same lines as what you did, those lights are so compact that it is always in my EDC bag, how couldn’t you not use it as a EDC it’s so small and unlimited mod capable IMHO, but heck you said it, awesome light that UT02, only hate the switch though so dremeled it out and well can’t explain the rest but got the switch much more usable.
I’m honestly not sure how many X6’s but ya that to is an awesome light, heck I love the little M8 and was the one who pointed out what I was doing when I dropped that 17mm driver into that AA light the M2 Jax is selling, freaked people out when I showed those pics of a straight change out and a perfect retainer from a double AA light to a 14500, put in a MT-G2 and even Dale went “WHAT” and raced off to buy a bunch ha ha ha, that was the luck of being a modder and just happening to think well what if and knowing the manufacturer and how he thinks, I saw the pic first day he posted those lights and would never really buy a AA light unless I thought about the what if part and knowing Jax the man Paul… ha ha, turned out to be a good seller for him after I showed those mod pics, I was pretty darn proud of myself, I must admit ha ha
Later, I think I better go to church or something, maybe have a beer, nah… tear this X1s apart and see what is wrong with this reflector, it does have some punch to it but I think something went bad in the spin coating process.

Hey t18, i am new here… so you inserted 26650 kp protected, and the light stopped working… in my opinion, you damaged the driver. Most kp protected are 69.50 mm and 71 mm…

So i think the light is design to take unprotected flat top 18650 and unprotected flat top 26650.

From the pics, looks like the spill for both XHP50 and XHP35 HI looks approx. equally bright. And the XHP35 HI spill looks brighter. Is it?

WHat 26650 works with this light? All of them appear to be 65 or over?

Should I cancel my order? What is this “breathing” business?

I dont have a light on me yet. They shipped it out yesterday… ( so thats mean the light is ready to go). i am thinking efest 4200 mah 26650, 65.8 mm may works the best…

We have to repeat one question, the X1s is based on standard 26650/18650 battery.Any battery with a protection board maybe not well accord to X1s.There is no a standard of all repacked batteries, some are thicker, some are longer, no standard size…We promise the max OD of the battery is 26.5mm, the Max. Length is 68mm. Otherwise it will cant work.
