Iād go with the XM-L module above. The XR-E has that ring around it, and the hole in the reflector might just be too big. Looks like so in the pic, too.
For the LED, all those above are kind of warm. Not sure if thatās what you want.
The one I used in my F13 is a 3B, wonderfully neutral. āThough in the F13, I needed to keep the come-with spacer, because trying to tighten up the focus a little bit with just a paper spacer ended up with a horrible fried-egg beam (lemon-yellow hotspot, blue spill, kinda ringy). Keeping the spacer, it mixed together much better, even though the focus was a little fuzzy.
If you really want the XP-L (or an XP-L HI), make sure to get a reflector that specifies XP, not XM. Otherwise the hole will be too big and the LED can swim around on the pill as you tighten down the reflector, pulling it off-center.
Anyway, tints are all a matter of taste. It took me a while to adjust to the 4C of my S2+, but I grew to like it. Anything in the 5s will be even warmer, like incandescent bulbs. Great look if thatās what youāre going for, but just be aware of it.
And just wanted to mention, with the 1.4A driver, you can keep the critter lit a long time and not really have to worry about it. Just make sure to put thermal goo under the LED, and if you need it, some foil around the pill so it makes contact with the tube nice and tight.
Thatās what Iām doing for my tac-light using the L2m. No worrying about step-down, cooling, etc., even though the P90 kinda stinks as far as shedding heat. Itās not going to be (or even trying to be) a āpocket rocketā, just a nice bright usable light with 1 mode, an easy-access FC switch, and thatās it. Do one thing, and do it really well.
