A minus rude score?

Haha, a minus rude score means you lack rudenessā€¦what else would it mean?

Maybe youā€™re turning into Ned Flanders with a negative scoreā€¦

(The Eb thingy is the bass tab for ā€œWouldā€ :smiling_imp: )

However lets hope it doesnā€™t soon become time for ReNeducation

Itā€™s back! lol

Well, dont be rudeā€¦ he said it was a TEMPORARY fix :stuck_out_tongue:

I know. Just busting chops here

Mine is still 0ā€¦ I wouldnt mind a little rudeness credit

A glitch in the Matrix. Soon you will wake up and wish you never learned what the real world is like. :sunglasses:

We need to get rid of the ā€œRude!ā€ score nonsense. Makes us sound like mental handicapped where we canā€™t deal with normal social interactions. Really, it needs to go. A post can always just be reported if it can be classed as inappropriate. But this needs to stop. And Iā€™ve felt this way for a long time.

what exactly happens if you hit 10? and can you actually see someone elses rude score?

Iā€™m with you. Someone gave me a rude point for trashing a defective flashlight I purchased a while back. How is that rude?

BTW, I didnā€™t use any foul language in my post.

Well, the Rude! score is supposed to be a tool in our arsenal as self-moderated members. The rating system is very forgiving. Itā€™s just supposed to give a little bit of visual feedback so that you can know how people react to your posts. I think SB said that thereā€™s no auto-ban or anything like that associated with it, but if you do get a high number, it will let him know so that he can check it out.

AFAIK, you canā€™t see anyone elseā€™s Rude! number or which posts of theirs were flagged, only your own. The 10 on the scale is arbitrary and doesnā€™t mean anything really. I think he said that he had to choose a number in order for the scale thing to work, and it seemed to him that 10 was a good number.

Around the time the Rude! meter was introduced, we needed it. Maybe now we donā€™t, but we might again in the future. We do get the occasional rude person around here, although a truly unapologetically rude person is quite rare in general at BLF. I mostly ignore it, but I have given Rude! points a few times and as well have also received them. I count it as a mostly harmless feature that can be useful at times.

Nicely spoken. Minus 1 for you:)

I think we should also have an informative button with an area to skim through the top most informative posts to gain knowledge that might otherwise be hidden:)

Yes on this. Well put.
Its a bit like the option to not peruse commercial posts. Not long ago it was real handy but now the commercial sellers seem to have gotten the hint which means the option is rarely used now.

I think it just means he was bad at being rude. :stuck_out_tongue: Rude fail. :person_facepalming:

SB once explained how the rude only sticks to you for 24hr then resets, I had a person follow me around and push my buttons continuously that was until SB tracked him down, havenā€™t had a problem since, havenā€™t seen that guy either since, maybe an ejection button somewhere.

Almost all of my problem posts are the result of a single user.

That person was banned last year, and I haven't had hardly any posts marked as rude since.

Trust me when I say sb dishes out a heck of a spanking. Dont ask how I know. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just noticed a negative rudeness score too.

The rude-point system was added almost exactly a year before this thread was created. If people keep getting negative scores in ways which match the timing and quantity of points received a year ago (but reversed), itā€™s probably some sort of cleanup process. Maybe old points are getting garbage-collected and their effect is being subtracted again by the cleanup script?

Total shot in the dark theory.

Pshht! You expect me to believe THAT!? Yeah right! The moon goddess shooting in the dark. Hmmph! :open_mouth:

But yeah, youā€™re probably right about the cleanup. I can imagine that exact thing happening if the method of erasure after 24 hours didnā€™t actually erase the points, but rather cancelled them out. The actual erasure from cleanup would then be subtracting from the still standing ā€œcancel outā€ resulting in negative points.
