Spiders invading my car

vacuum cleaner, and air pressure hose.

DEMON WP....(wettable powder) Cypermethrin 40% Other Ingredients 60%

I use it for scorpions and yes...spiders. Available from Amazon. I just re-stocked. Less than $10 for four packets. Each pack makes a gallon of spray. Takes two packs for Arachnads. And Ohhh. IT WORKS !!

dang these look nasty, wiki tlls me the bite is less harmfull then the black widow and it is pushing away the black ones

We have these red insects

They group in the sun and on the grape and linden trees
this year I had enough (birds leave them alone) and use an old vaccuum (also good for water so a nice big - bag free - container where it all ends up)
they turn to dust for little stones make their way into it as well.
last year big red spots on the trees, this year a few, acceptable
But they run away from the hose and mabe spiders are too fast.

I’m not a Buddhist or anything but I tend to just leave creatures alone, in the main. I’m actively trying to teach my wee’n not to be scared of spiders (well, our local spiders won’t do much harm) and also trying to make sure she has a respectful but unafraid attitude towards bees and stuff. In terms of arachnicide / insecticide, why not use some Diatomaceous Earth ? It’s cheap and natural and will also repel as well as kill them.

Totally with you bro. Live and let live is my general motto. But that changes when I need to repair my car, and one of those creatures is up where I will be reaching my arm. Exception to the rule.

when i moved into my old, old, big, big HOUSE nearly 20 years ago? It had been taken over by spiders and mice and rats. The mice and rats, while an annoyance? caused me no fear. The spiders? Erm…

you wold have to understand? There were webs on WEBS in the basement, the end result of some kind of sick spider breeding program left go under the radar for far too long… all 3 full basements of this house were covered and inundated… the spiders marched around the house like they owned it, which they kind of did.

i TRIED the sprays? i sprayed “ten times as much” as was safe on the package? STILL wasnt killing them, it was just p!$$ing them off. I tried the bug bombs? I bought eh most expensive and biggest, and put one in each and every room… ran outside? to watch the stream from each one harmlessly going RIGHT for the old windows, doing “nothing”.

the over used sprays? burned my eyes and nose RAW and the spiders were still alive. it was worse on me than it was on them…

I knew what had to be done. I had to go, and CARRY the fight into the very HEART of the enemy’s lair itself, and squish and stomp them MANUALLY.

I put a hoodie on? and taped gloves to the wrists of the hoodie. i taped the hoodie to the jeans, and the jeans to the workboots… i pull the big hoodie into a small opening for my face, and goggles over the little of my eyes and nose showing… I was ready.

my (ex)wife is standing there looking at me like i am nuts, but, when i offered HER to go in? she declined… riiiight. I got all worked up and charged in… killed a bunch of webs and spiders, couple “runs” worth of heavily coated floorboards… and ran OUT screaming like a girl scout…

“get em offf! get em OFFFFFFF!!!”

and the ex wife wiped them off… wiped me off… I went back in for a few minutes, and cam running out again… “get em offff!!!”

she said ” uh, theres none ON you, dear…”

“get em off ANYWAYS!!! get em off anyways!!!”

(she wiped off imaginary spiders all over me that didnt exist… so i could go back in, yelling at the spiders, laughing like a maniac…)

=

so, going to extremes? I WON… well sort of. True, i only had to kill a few stray spiders for a little while, then i saw NONE, yes technically i had “won”. But, what have i won?

i was now over run by crickets (not scary, fun at first but…. annoying) and over-run by these little damp bugs? that looked like false centipedes. they vary in size from tiny to gigantic…

the CURE was worse then the DISEASE…

my enemy’s enemy? is my friend… i made peace with a FEW spiders. they will not leave a web, so, a few webs are allowed to exist in a few places. After 20 years of “work”? I am able to handle a FEW small spiders, not most of them, mind you, but… i impressed a few friends showing off how i can pick some of them up (not many)

i have NOW decided? conquering all fears? is impossible… i now allow myself ONE rational fear… spiders.

We’re all humanary stew,

IF
We don’t pledge allegiance to….

The Black Widow!!!

I’m happy I live in Sweden with NO toxic spiders.

The only way to be sure is to nuke it from orbit.

hmmm…do they tent cars?

a few years ago, I had to get a couple excisions, first about a dime, next about a quarter before all the spider mouthparts???
were removed and quit festering on my buttocks

guess I smashed his ass on mine as he was chowing down on prime butt roast

Ziggy played guitar….
Still one of my fave albums

A friends leg essentially rotted down to skin, muscle, and bone after a brown recluse bite. Not much worries me but those do. Black Widows are less common but more well known- go figure :stuck_out_tongue: I’m not a fan of spiders but I tolerate the non-poisonous ones since they eat gnats and mosquitoes. The enemy of my enemy is my friend :sunglasses:

Phil

Yeh, it’s called a French Fry.

Except mosquitoes. Mosquitoes must die. Smoosh them into a gooey paste. Kill, kill, kill.

And yep to DE. When ants are getting too close to the house, out comes the DE as a white “moat”.

According to rumor occasional ones finds their way here inside vintage cars exported here from the US. But they never survive our winters.

Mosquitoes we have plenty of though…

Yeah ! …. Lots of bug spray …
If a car hangs around long enough in one place , spiders will call it home …
If a female spider lays eggs , you will have a spider infestation on wheels …

So spray spray and spray some more …

Put the car on Jacks ! And put a bug bomb under the car …

I’ve seen a couple of brown recluse spider bite videos. Scary as hell. From what I’ve read, they’re not common here on Long Island.

BTW, Ziggy Stardust my fave as well.

I used to “live and let live” too. Sometime i would manage to let a spider walk onto a piece of paper or fabric and then carry it outside with no harm…

…Until i woke up one morning with something like 15 tiny spider bites on my forearm, all inside a 4/5cm area. It was not itching and i was somewhat confident it would heal quickly but two days later they where still there. A ‘blue’ vein had developed running up my arm and i was feeling glands under my armpit. I got pretty scared and ran to a MD who prescribed me antibiotics. It was all gone after two days.

I’ve no idea what sort of spiders we have here. Most are tiny and obviously some are toxic if you get more then a few bites.

Now i don’t carry them outside anymore!

i like the diatomaceous earth…or a can of hairspray and a lighter …i’m also a fan of carb cleaner for most bugs
