This is coming along nicely Ben.
I was good to catch up for brecky yesterday. Short and sweet.
Dad is still talking about his new custom built light you gifted him yesterday. Cheers.
With those fins you should be able to get rid of a lot of heat ok.
What size thread do you cut lostheplot? I find the bigger the thread the easier it is to cut neatly.
I use 1.25 pitch
Have just bought some hss to grind my own tools as my external tool
(cheap ebay) doesnt have any rake.
I use a carbide tip job from banggood for internal
ok so finally done as had to wait for some 3 mm taps from ebay
battery tube is 5mm thick and 10mm where it bolts to head clamping the driver in position
bezel is bolted with 3mm studs and acorn nuts
pictured with c8 and srk
the shed 60 metres
the quality control comitee at about 50 metres
thanks for looking…lastly the lexel ta driver runs just over 11amps into the 3 by xpl2 leds
so I guessthats around the 3000 lumen
thanks for the tip but it is not wanted
Thats one fine looking light ltp. What reflector and led did you use and was the three mm tap any good you bought of Ebay?
this is the reflector which I trimmed to 50mm dia
http://www.kaidomain.com/p/S021812.52mm-D-x-26mm-H-SMO-Aluminum-Reflector
slightly bigger than the srk one and a bit deeper
the leds 3 x xpl v2 hi 5000k
I am actually fairly happy with this light ran for 10 mins on high and still no ware near getting to hot I think the battery will go flat before heat becomes a problem
as it was down to 3.9v after 10 mins
the taps I didn’t break them
:+1: Thanks.
so this will be my first build with my own reflector.
picture with a c8 reflector I used for profile.
machined some chunky fins and thread and a bezel /pill.
my knurling skills suck today just couldn’t get it right
tail cap to go and then some assembly will be using xml2u4 1a…possibly a single mode driver or a biscotti
Are you going to dedome the led?
no I would not dedome it. as I will prob give this to my sister with a protected cell for her birthday.
not after any crazy outputs ,just a look what my brother gave me .
you get the idea…
So its done
fairly floody beam runs at 2.1amp on protected panasonic 18650
modes just on…
I was privileged enough to see this light first hand last Friday and ltp pictures just dont do it justice. Its an amazingly compact large, little triple. Nice work ltp and really nice work. :+1:
a lot of your old pictures are unavailiable as photobucket does not support 3. party sharing anymore
sorry this thread has become a bit hit and miss
I have deleted a lot and just put some finished pics up
due to the photobucket issue…
Well I have been assembleing a bit of stuff for another build
4 x 21700 cells
1 x xhp70.2 5000 tint
L6 smooth reflector
bistro driver from lexel
12’’ of plastic rod
and some alloy
1st up battery holder
hogged it out a bit in the milldrill
All the slots done
Enough for today.
Cool, looking forward to this :sunglasses:
