Yeah I get that JDub, I’m not the normal customer. Most of us around here aren’t And I’m good with that. I was just saying that if something more robust happened in the future I’d be all over it.
Those pliers are awesome. I’ve definitely never seen anything like that. My method is basically what you said, but I actually keep a pair of pliers with rubber heatshrink tubing shrunk down over the jaws for that sort of work. Its generally very easy on things and I rarely scratch something, but it happens…
Thank you so much! You answered all my questions J-Dub! I know it must be hard to keep all on track but you are doing a great job on that and on letting us know how things advance! :+1:
I will order it from AliExpress store when the second batch arrives, but for any modification I’ll be wathcing this thread!
That pair of pliers looks like it still might be dizzy from the time it spent in the lathe! Looks like a pair of needle (long) nose pliers that had the padding stripped of the handles, then mounted in a four jaw chuck to spin them down to the right size.
Not a difficult task for our talented machinists. The limiting factor is the size of the through hole of the chuck.
I have tried it a few times but a lighted tail on a S2+ with metal switch cover is not very impressive, for me it is not worth the parasitic drain that comes with it when the light is off.
I totally agree with you, there’s no way to make a bright illuminated stainless switch on the S2+…
The space is simply too thin, what makes the rubber boot bright is their larger surface for light diffusion
Yeah. I tried it. By the time I got it bright enough (to compare with dim trits) the resistance was below 1K (on an H17F driver). It messed up the switch timing at that point.
The parasitic drain would be very high too. Neat but not that great.
In the thread I can’t remember, few days ago someone posted picture of slightly sanded metal switch letting through much more light. I’ll try finding it.
Nice! Mine is on the way from Fastech. Also have the Clear one coming, I’m planning on gutting them and using them as hosts for a triple and maybe another with an emitter I don’t currently have in the fleet.
