Review: Sofirn SP32 (1X18650)

Hi Guys (and Gals) —
Sofirn sent me an email asking me to do a review of their SP32. I received it a few days ago. So here ’tiz…
This is a “tubelight” (very comfortable to carry in the pocket) or with a clip if wanting to clip on belt. Also included was a very nicely made 2800 mAH 18650 batt (didn’t specify if protected.) Doesn’t matter to me because If only had 1 incident with li-ion and it was in a home security monitor , not a flashlight. The LED is very well aligned to the reflector (see pic) Also, it has pleasing “soft” mode changes adding a certain elegance to the light. The button top on the battery appears to have a protective layer so might want to make a mental note to gently scrape this off before installing.

I was amazed when I took it out on a dark night where I live way out in the sticks along with my SRK and it actually gave it a run for the money on turbo mode. Turbo mode wont stay on too long though because it does get hot and automatically downshifts to the next level. It has 4 modes. I really like the neutral white color. Despite being a “skinny” light, it tail-stands very well.
This is my new favorite light because of run-time, firely setting, the wall of light that it puts out, and the side button. I found the strobe mode alarming (they call it SOS mode) but it doesn’t do 3 dots and dashes but rather an apparent alpha brainwave synchronized flashing which slows to a confusing slower strobe every 1.5 seconds or so. Could be very disorienting to an assailant. The springs appear gold plated and the glass has a very solid sound when tapped (it doesn’t sound thin or cheap). Thanks Sofirn. And thank you BLF’ers for reading my review.

Steve-O,

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Any idea where these can be purchased?

Not heard of Sofirn before.

Cheers,

Never heard of them either before they contacted me for a review.

I share steve-o’s observations and believe that this is a nice light/battery/charger package, especially for the price. They’re available on Amazon.

It seems that they are new to the game and have made a few nice lights that are pretty well thought out.

I like my SP32 and have been using it every night for taking the pooches out before bed, investigating noises in the yard and for reading at night with the moonlight mode.

Looks like Amazon’s got ’em here:

I’ve never heard of that company either, but it looks and feels well made … only the test of time will tell … for the price and free shipping an EDC like this can’t prolly be beat for right now … Its gotten good reviews here and some other places …

We can find them in AliExpress as well! Just search for “Sofirn”
I bought one there, it is on the way now!

Many Thanks for the replies.

Saw them on US Amazon, but as in UK no use to me.

Will look on Ali Xpress.

I thought that there was an Amazon UK … Is this any help?

They probably all come from the same place anyway… Ali may be cheaper … dunno …

They are on uk Amazon. I got one from there

Will get a review done on here soon. Already reviewed on Amazon.

Got to say, without ordering from China with the delay and potential hassle it’s hard to find a better light for the price.

Thanks for the “Heads Up” Guys.
