Thanks for the info. I do not have a lux meter unfortunately. I’ve heard numbers like 3500 on turbo, others 3800. I’m going to guess the 70.2 I have will push it to either 3800 or 4100.
That sounds about right. The real advantage of the 70.2 is that it doesn’t stop at 12 or so amps like the xhp70, it can keep going up to 18 amps! That’s where you get your 7,000 and 8,000 lumen from.
I would recommend adding a resistor and get good unprotected batteries as well. This gave me 2 extra amps and a matching bump in brightness over the protected Keeppowers.
Oh yeah, I picked up my LX1330b Lux meter for about $30 on ebay. It’s very cool to have.
I meant to dig up my records on a stock L6 and forgot to do it. Sorry. Will see if I can locate the lists today.
My black L6 has a zener modified FET driver with ramping firmware and a higher-than-stock binned emitter. It’s pulling right at 12A for some 7200 lumens.
If I recall correctly, the last L6 I got in silver color was making around 3800 in stock trim, it now has an MT-G2 in it. Still though, I’ve got lists of amps and lumens from each level written down somewhere (posted here as well if such could be found)
The Convoy L6 really is a sweet deal of a light, especially with so many easy ways to change up beam profile and tint and easy power level mods. Will have to get a couple of these 70.2’s coming and maybe I’ll be ready to rock some changes by the time they get here.
Thank you Jason and DBC. I agree the L6 is a beast of a light. I equally like it as much as my Acebeam K40M. I may just keep the L6 stock as I feel it’s bright enough for now. I am going to assume one of the added benefit to the new 70.2 is cooler temps on turbo,stock, correct? I’ve never been able to test it with the new swap yet. Mabey tonight fireworks won’t be the only thing lighting up the sky. Happy 4th everyone!
With the buck driver the light should be more efficient (make less heat) at the same current with the 70.2. The lower Vf means lower input wattage with the same (or greater) lumen output.
has anyone using 18650s on their L6, i just ordered mine. The only 26650 i have is from imalent DN70 but i have plenty of high drain 18650s. Can the spring make contact with smaller diameter of 18650? I just printed a battery sleeve to fit the 2x18650. The light is not yet in my hand so maybe someone can share some infos?
I dont see why they should not work, the springs are in the center of the flashlight and the tips are not any bigger then usual.
Just make sure the batteries are not longer then 70mm each.

No the stock L6 will not work with only one cell.
The short tube is for people that mod in different drivers/emitters. Or have a couple of 26350 cells to put in
Yeah non protected cells should be around 65mm long, it is the protected ones that are close to 70mm.
Just be aware that using cells in series should be done with care. Make sure they are the same capacity and at the same voltage level when you use them.

I ordered two 18650 to 26650 converters a few weeks ago. https://www.fasttech.com/product/1228900-18650-to-26650-battery-converter should get them today. I would recommend them as a must buy when you want to use 18650’s as a backup power source. Will try them in the L6 tonight and report if any issues.

I’m happy to report that the 18650 to 26650 battery tubes from FastTech work perfectly! They are high quality, and they fit perfectly in the L6 with no rattle. Thanks to the rubber o rings. The batteries I used are Protected EVVA 18650 3500’s. ( Panny NCR18650GA’s) The batteries fit perfect in the tubes. Electrical contact was perfect too.
