Sofirn SF30 Zoomie

Anyone have any experience with this light?
! !
I bought a couple of Thorfire BD04’s a while ago when they were on sale. After some mods, I actually like them. These are going to be on sale on Prime day, and thought I might pick up a couple.
Sofirn SF30

I would like to know as well, I am afraid it will be a hollow pilled crapfire clone.

Hopefully not. Their SP31 gets nice and warm nice and fast when on high, so it’s got a decent thermal path. Hopefully this one would have the same quality as its bigger brothers.

I like the style, too. It’s like a baby UF F13.

Lots of pics and info here http://s.aliexpress.com/YrABriaA

Hi,
I have couple of similar lights
SF30 and ThorFire-TA13 ( https://www.banggood.com/ThorFire-TA13-XM-L2-3Modes-Zoomable-LED-Flashlight-18650-AAA-p-1054943.html?rmmds=search ).
These lights are nearly the same (only head is a bit different).
It does not have pill. I has solid construction of head. Driver is not powerfull (about 2A consumption).
I can make some (particular) pictures if somebody need , and share it via google drive.

Thanks. I ordered 1. Apparently, they have a limit of 1, with discount. It actually says “Prime Day Discount”, but accepted it. $6.50US

pro22000, do you have the SF30?. The one chooma posted is SF30a. Appears to be the same light with a 3 mode driver.

EDIT: after looking at the pictures on Aliexpress, it appears they mingle both of those lights in their description, so i will assume it is same light, with different drivers.
SF30: Single mode
SF30a: 3 mode
And this confirms my suspicions of a few other brand lights I have bought, that have had Sofirn innards.

To be honestly,we do not give exaggerated false values of the lumen and other parameters,we are a professional manufacturer of LED flashlight, there are thousands of buyers take us as their supplier, now we are openning a new retail offical shop.If you want order more please contact me, i will give a you reasonable discount. We want you to be pleased with your purchase. Customer service is our NO.1 priority.

I got one of these today. Overall it seems like a descent little light. Like pro22000 said, it is an integrated shelf design, with deep driver pocket, and retaining ring. The driver 22+mm, and is nothing more than a couple of resistors in series. Website says it has reverse polarity protection, but I didn’t see it, and didn’t try it. The battery tube is pretty thin, with an interior diameter of about 23mm, so it comes with a sleeve for a 18650. It also has the carrier for 3 AAA. It has a small omten style switch on a 17mm pcb, also with retaining ring. Appears to be a real XM-L2. It has a white plastic screw in centering ring (well, not really a centering ring, I guess). Clear optic. The head is a little wobbly, as it uses a double o-ring for the slide, and not nearly as smooth as my bd04.
It’s definitely mod-able, but I don’t think it would handle the heat that well.
They are even cheaper today on Amazon $5.99, buy 2 and get them for $10.49. I had a couple in the cart, but I think I will pass. If those Thorfire BD04’s ever come on sale again, I will jump on those.

1. Does the Sofirn SF30A have any purplish/blue tint with many outer rings like those cheap $5~ Ultrafire XML T6? (Amazon.com) For example:

2. Is it using real Cree XML-L2 LED not those fake Latticebright?

Thanks

Nah, Sofirn uses nice LEDs, about 5700K from memory. Bright white, but not Angry Blue™.

I got one just today. My experiences are:

- I could not open the front bezel with my hands (I will report later, if I will be able to open that - btw, product manual mentions sealed head)

  • LED is genuine XM-L2, but one of the worst tints (6500-7000K)

Yes, exactly that.

Thanks for the info.

Could you share some max beam and flood shots? Thank you.

I own 1. Looking to pick up a few more if and when available.

I tried it with a plier and made only a little damage. Then I tried it with some rustic leather gloves with a lot of grip and this was working. Now I can open the front bezel only with hands.
And yes, the tint is very blue. “6500-7000K” much blueer than the BLF A6 with 6500K.

I ordered one with the old look back last november and today it arrived with a new look. Now it’s exactly the same body like the linked ThorFire TA13. I dont’ like the urgly new head.

I changed the LED with another cold white XML2 (U4?) on a copper board. But the driver is unfortunately exotic wide.
