I have found the Hugsby XP 1 an excellent small cheap light. I have never had one fail, and have given a bunch away.
I decided I wanted to give some away to some nice folks, and thought I could get some from eBay as in the past. To my dismay instead of approx $5 each they are $8. I found some that look the same called Lixada. I have never heard of those.
So has anyone here tried a Lixada? If so what is your assessment?
Well, that’s nice I just suggested this one as it seems to be original.
Some of these lights are very close to the original but then there are some small details that denounce that it is a fake or a copy (maybe like the Lixada the OP mentions).
It’s a pitty because the “Kaidomain” store in AE sells some Hugsby but not the XP1
g3 , besides trying to ask for discount, as everydaysurvivalgear did, always take a look at stores’ coupons, some are realy nice when buying in quantity or in big amount of money! I recently discovered that, so now I always take a look at it :money_mouth_face:
I do appreciate all comments. I know that we here are picky about such things as glass vs plastic lens, and colors of beams and their shape. That is fine, But the average person only cares that a light is dependable, and that it turns on when needed.
The small light can be easily carried in a purse or pocket.
Accordingly, if the fakes fulfill those requirements, I am OK with that. I’ll report on the ones I get, wheeeen I get them from China.
Yes they are indeed good. I gave a few of them to my colleagues and it worked fine so far.
Expected problem would be the pressfit driver will slowly come loose and flicker. It needed maintenance from time to time but overall still good enough
My colleagues always used them for rigging work and they always drop it so it’s expected that the driver will come off
All 3 of my Fake XP-1’s only turn on about half the time on the first click and sometimes not at all unless the battery is removed and reinstalled.
All 6 of my genuine XP-1’s turn on first click every time. I bought the fakes to give away as presents but I can’t now. I don’t want to have my name in a sentence of cuss words every time they need the light to turn on and it wont!
The build quality is not even close on the fakes. On another note I put an XP-2 head on a XP-1 tube with a 10440 battery. It is impressively bright but gets too hot to to hold the front half in about 30 seconds. Just not enough metal in the little things!
