FW3A, a TLF/BLF EDC flashlight - SST-20 available, coupon codes public

Please add me to the list for one.

I’m in for one!

I haven’t followed this thread so IDK if there’s already an agreement on the UI. If so can somebody link me to it please. I tried searching for it but I get too many results.

In the original post, close to the top “And we plan on it to run Narsil… ”

I’d like to get on the list for this. For 2 of them please.

Yeah thanks Dale, Narsil, so basically one can set it up how one likes.

Wow lots of people want adding on the list, it already was overdue now even more, don’t worry it will happen

In for one. Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, so it will be the “standard” Narsil designed by TOM? Cause the D4 is also using Narsil but a different version, so it might be possible that there will be a version specifically designed for FW3A….

Well ehm hmm uh
OK yes this is NarsilM by Tom E but it might get a bit tweaked (timed stepdown sooner then default as in Q8 Narsil for example)
The D4 review thread is going so fast I can’t keep up but I know Ton did the firmware based on what Hank wanted and now Toykeeper is adapting that, but if one flashes Narsil on it it works.
For some reason Hank didn’t want Narsil (why beats me  )

Do you have a rough idea when we will get some production news? Care to share some of the steps to getting this made and in our hot little hands ? (pun indended, at least until step-down!)

Maybe use the version of Narsil Toykeeper is tweeking for the D4 in this light?

I really like the looks of this one, but I wish it had a trit slot on the tailcap for a locator since it is going to be almost impossible to add a lighted tailcap. Is this possible?

Hmm we aim for normal Narsil

Well Matt, e-switch+ Narsil supporting locator LEDs + will could bring you a long way (and typing this I don’t know if pins and pads are available so better get a hacksaw ready to be sure  )

When?
It took a long time to find a partner on this, we spoke for months with a big player who in the end didn’t dare to make a 2500lumens light this small.
Seeing how fast the GT, that is no money maker , is going and thinking there is more room for manufacturer profits at this $30 price point this could go fast as well.

Great news! At least it is not A$$tr0lüX

It looks like Tom made Narsil, then RampingIOS (to Hank’s spec), then NarsilM. This makes RampingIOS basically a fork of the older Narsil, without the upgrades built into NarsilM. However, now it has gotten some upgrades of its own, so they’re parallel branches. It might make sense to merge updates between them.

The main thing I added was thermal regulation and calibration. The code for that can be spliced into other projects. It’d probably be a good idea to do so, since the FW3A has dramatically less thermal mass than the Q8 so it’ll need more aggressive regulation.

OTOH, to reduce complexity and make it easier to create new UIs without all the overhead work of writing the required plumbing code, I’m anxious to build a whole new code base. I haven’t actually done it yet, but the idea is to make a foundation with all the plumbing taken care of. So maybe that’s a way to resolve the parallel branch thing without making a mess.

Please put me down for one!

Please add me to the list for 2.
Thanks!
