[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Just checked it out. Uses XHP35 HI. Pretty potent combination.

On the other hand, 4 well-driven dedomed XPL V6 might get you 6500 lumens out-the-front, with a bit better throw than the XHP35 HI.

here is tn40 on left, ….tn42 middle, tk61 right…all modded……

Nice beamshots!
Modded? How
And what do they in terms of heat?

Vamper, yes will update list later

Ah, I was getting the TN40 mixed up with another light, I thought it was a single LED thrower. I see now it is a quad LED, that makes way more sense.

As you might could tell, I don’t pay much attention to “brand name lights”.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a quad sized GT like a bigger TN40
but first the GT then the GM Giga Monster if it is cool to do

yeah, 10,000 lumens, and 1 mill lux would be a show stopper ! :open_mouth:

Rather a bad guy stopper with its strobe mode…

vn modded
tk61 ice cold for days
tn42, warm after 5 minutes or so, still useable after 10 solid minutes
tn40, warm in 1 minute, ouch thats hot, in 3 minutes, cigar lighter or personal heater in the winter in 4 minutes :open_mouth:

Got anymore updates or teaser pics? :sunglasses:

Hehe, I’m giving in to the pressure. Could I be put down for a second GT please? I’m holding back the urge for a 3rd.

Put me in on that list :sunglasses:

Funny you should mention that - #1 of the approval prototypes is just in! I have had a stupid grin on my face for the last two hours. This thing is ridiculously huge - I love it!

First impressions are great. These are obvious prototypes, few small surface imperfections on mine. But the anodizing, machining, fit, finish is excellent otherwise. Mine is a shorty, but the head is less heavy than expected and the imbalance is not too bad. Should note that the LED bin/tint is unknown. Would have to guess a 2B or 1C for the tint, cool with a hint of green. The production units will have 3D.

Cell holder is pretty nice, solid and ergonomic for swapping out cells.

NarsilM was not set to the default ramping mode and was confusing for a second. Set it back to ramping and did not look back.

Ran it against a stock Olight M3Xs (250 kcd) and an L2 host fitted with an XPL-Hi and FET driver. Measured at 10 m:

L2: 1430 lux, 143 kcd, 756 m
M3Xs: 1960 lux, 196 kcd, 885 m
GT: 8850 lux, 885 kcd, 1881 m

EDIT: Those cells were only half charged and sagging enough for the buck to drop out of regulation.
A set of 30Qs at 4 V gives 10600 lux at 10 m. That is 1.06 Mcd or 2.059 km of throw.

Had it running for several minutes while taking measurements. This thing is a beast, body/head did not even get luke-warm.

Out of the box:

Some BLF favorites for scale:

My closest contender for throw:

My closest contender for size:

Business end:

Details:

Battery tube and end cap. Someone had the cell-holder in backwards at some time, some brass transfer inside the cap:

Excellent threads:

Cell holder, very nice design. Driver end:

Back end, to mate with second holder:

Springs look just about perfect for both protected and unprotected cells. These protected PFs have about 3 mm compression left:

High quality PCB ends:

Driver, conventional retaining ring:

Waiting for the dark. Driver autopsy to follow later

amazing… only thing i can say. except that the lux really falls short of the expected 1.2 mil.

I am smiling in anticipation of my proto showing up tomorrow or the next day. It looks great.

Curious what the throw numbers will do at further distance, with a reflector this large it could take some distance for the beam to truly focus / converge.

Do not put too much on my numbers yet. That meter shorts the M3xs as well.

Trees at the end of the lot is 500 ft/150 m away. ISO100, 2s exposure, manual white balance, unedited. Set of so-so cells from my M6, photo does not do it justice:

that’s actually very nice, just the rightsize at such a distance. definitely not going to have to worry about blinding people(not those who shouldn’t be expecting a beam in their face anyway haha) when pointing somewhere further downrange.

Hold the press. My 3 meters agree, but the cells were sagging and the buck was not in regulation.

A set of 30Qs at 4 V gives 10600 lux at 10 m. That is 1.06 Mcd or 2.059 km of throw.

So a confirmed 1mcd! Not bad at all!

hurrah! my spare GA’s are impatiently waiting to unleash their true potential with this monster :smiling_imp: the beamshots i’m going to take when the GT starts rolling off the line….

that head with a short tube look awfully wrong but i like that. :stuck_out_tongue:
