[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

No, I live in Turkey which is in Middle East I think.

………………….
Check with your customs what the minimum amount that will avoid paying tax and VAT if there is any in your country.
In the EU VAT is payable if the amount is above 22 Euros.
For EU Citizens and others who ask for the alternative method of shipping the head and tube will be sent separately by China Post and priced at 20 dollars each.

EU residents FYI:

Not sure if it’s an optical illusion but it looks like this thing doesn’t fully focus till at least 50 meters

I expect things to improve with more distance and we still need to figure out the bin of the LED and play with the focus ect. If I think there can be focus improvements I will 3D print some new centering rings and try them out.

Not sure if it will hit 1.2mcd but it should improve if I had to guess.

The lens is AR coated glass, pretty nice stuff it looks like.

“Giggles” arrived a little bit ago, sadly it will most likely be tomorrow before I can really dig into it but I like what I have seen so far to the point I can’t get this silly grin off my face!

Hence the name “giggles” that was promptly bestowed upon it. The first of my lights to get a nickname actually.

I have to say, this thing is way more practical then it sounded on paper, I could really see using this if I needed to see long range.

Copy / pasted from another thread:

134mm head OD
85mm fin OD at button
56mm battery tube
62mm battery cap OD
~315mm total length with long battery tube (ruler only goes to 305mm, guessing on the last 10)

Thanks!

All of these developments are super exciting! Please put me down for one more.

yeah, almost looks like 2 beams

I want to pay now. Lol.

AR coated glass? Now we’re talking! It’s getting better and better! anyone has any ideas for a pouch …. rucksack… for this? No molle bottle pouch is going to swallow this one up for sure

If you’re just thinking about carrying it, it’s got holes for a sling.

I put the sling from my S70 on it and it works perfectly. The rotating tailcap design they came up with is fantastic.

Got some beamshots a few mins ago, Can’t wait to see how they turned out tomorrow.

I already know GT will be great… I have a sd75. Battery carrier is good. Threading are smooth and slide in easily.

Ooh nice
TA you have the first LT made, prototype 1 or GT 0,x
If team samples are going to be GT 0,9 or GT 1,0, I am curious to read what number we ought to put in place of the x

Yeah indeed it almost looks like two lights.
That darker middle part of a beam can be seen in several lights but as big as on the GT wow.

Trying to update the OP today, really busy.
List will also be updated soon.

Thanks Mr.Scott!

Beamshot looks amazing but it ran for 5 minutes and head got barely warm!?

That’s not the true BLF spirit, I request a XHP70 prototype to be put together ASAP

Maybe for 1/3rd of the throw but triple the lumens?

I’d be in for a short tube as an add on.

This is in the works, most likely do it when the next round of prototypes / samples show up.

That’s good, for best throw is should not fully focus anywhere, except at infinity.
If it is focused at 50m, then past 50m it would spread out and lose intensity faster than 1/r^2 which would make all the lux ratings meaningless and have less throw.

It is not two beams, it is a cylinder viewed from the side, the top and bottom appear much brighter.
The light emitted at 45 degrees from the LED and reflected by the parabola contains the highest amount of luminous flux, which gives the beam this look with a dim outside ring and center but bright in between.
You can see this effect more clearly on spotlights that use a larger reflector, such as the maxabeam or pretty much anything with a 5” or larger reflector.
This is simply how the light is distributed.
