Opinions on Utilitech 700 lumen?

I’m looking for a reliable light, 700 lumens or above, for about $20. Came across the Utilitech 700 at Lowes. Single led, 6 AAs, 1 yr warranty. Any opinions? Also, if anybody can recommend something smaller (with warranty), that would be even better. I’d like to stick with AA or AAA for convenience when traveling. Thanks!

6 AAs is a lot of cells

i don;t like that it only has high low and blink mode - the mark of a cheap controller

it isn;t a bad buy

but an astrolux S1 would be much better and smaller for the same price, 18650 bat though
i would also like to see the beam pattern, it may be too throwy to use up close, or too floody for far away

Energizer 6xaa 900 lumen light. Works great is around $20 it has 3 LEDs. High low and hidden strobe.

Why not a 18650 light with inbuilt charger for Micro-USB?

Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll check them out!

I ended up buying the Energizer 900 lumen. Very bright and works well so far. Glad I read reviews before trying to get the end cap off. A rubber jar opener did the trick. But the inside was rough and sharp where it makes contact with the batteries. Had to use some fine sandpaper on the end of a dowel to smooth it out. Considering all the online complaints, I’m surprised they haven’t fixed the end cap by now. But considering the low price and warranty, I still think it was worth buying.

Glad you like the light. Mine had a few sharp points. But it wasn’t that bad on mine. I was able to remove the tailcap with no issue either. Just greased the threads like I do with my others lights. It makes for a good truck light. Can get batteries at any gas station if needed in a pinch.

Its has a nice bright beam and lights up a good distance. Its worth $20. I think if one has the skills it could be modded to more efficient higher output LEDs for the same current. Also the build quality is better then I’ve seen with utlitech. At Lowes when I look at their flashlights. A lot of the LEDs are way off center. Like its just assembled with no care. I guess everyday people wouldn’t care as long as it works if the led is off the side of the reflector

Speed4goal, my light gets pretty warm after only about 10-15 minutes on. Is this normal?

Welcome to BLF!
Nice you found a light that makes you happy, good work making its sharp edges smooth.
Yes ad long as light sources are not 100% converting energy to light there will be heat, and it getting warm is a good sign for that heat has to go somewhere, it goes to the outside and does not damage the led or internal parts, good!
