Help me choose a flashlight!

Are these lights affiliated with this forum? I was told that most brands from China are built with questionable quality with over-inflated rated lumens.

The BLF A6, with a really well-suited battery, at that price is an incredible deal! A6 has been my edc since it came out, and I’ve not been tempted by any other everyday light since. I have quite a few other flashlights, but the A6 gets 99% of my use. Only exception being when I need to light up something FAR away.

Olight is also a Chinese company. Funny, do you think it is a USA company?

Most flashlights are produced in Chinese. There are really good flashlights from Chinese.

This easy to resolve

and I think folks will agree

D4 = $40 cant be beat PERIOD

Yeah but there’s a difference between one who distributes in networks around the world versus one that is sold at “bang good”!

Looks great but how is it better than the other lights that were mentioned? For example the Zanflare F1, the Mecarmy PT16, or the BLF A6?

I’m now considering the following:

1. Emisar D4 (out of stock, $40+shipping)
http://www.mtnelectronics.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=80&product_id=855

2. Zanflare F1 ($30)
http://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_466743.html

3. Mecarmy PT16 ($55)
http://www.illumn.com/mecarmy-pt16-3-x-xp-g2-1000-lumens-usb-rechargeable-new-ui-battery-included.html

4. BLF A6 (out of stock, $30+shipping, sale at $21+shipping will be over before it restocks)

5. Olight SR Mini II ($134)

6. Olight R50 Seeker ($79)
https://olightworld.com/led-flashlights/safety-and-self-defense/olight-r50-seeker

Read through multiple reviews of each light but I still can’t pick 1! I’d prefer for it to be durable, waterproof, and be rechargeable.

Can anyone find a cheaper price than what I’ve listed? Thanks.

Can someone explain to me why the R50 Seeker (2500 lumens) appears brighter than the SR Mini II (3200 lumens)? Plus the Seeker is more green and is supposed to have more throw but it looks like it’s the other way around.

R50 Seeker

SR Mini II

Using the code: 2017FNL at Banggood gives you 30% discount on the BLFA6 which is even available in non anodized
The code shows in the banner on top of blf (flashlight clearance) so seems legit

It appears the SR is running a warmer white than the R50. Cool white always looks brighter than warm white. Or atleast that’s what I’ve read… :+1:

Why is it $6 more and it doesn’t even include a battery? Is there anything else that’s different from the anodized one? The HAIII should be more durable correct?

That’s what I’ve read too but it looks very similar in the BLF A6.

After all the good things I’ve heard about the BLF A6 I’m gonna buy one. Now to find the best deal….

Because it was in clearance
You have an anodized as well, without battery. (Which is the same price as the non-anodized)

The non anodized is nice in that it won't show wear as much as black anodized. When abraded enough, the black anodization comes off and exposes the raw aluminum underneath. Not sure why it's more expensive. Others here probably can tell you. One other consideration beyond just the light is service after the sale. I've bought from Gearbest and had no problems (except the wait from China to US) but if the light came defective or damaged and I had to return/exchange it, another long wait. Mountain Elect. and Illumn.com sell lights that are mostly sourced from China but stocked in US. Returns are usually easier/ faster. No experience with Banggood.

When you say you want rechargeable, do you plan to charge the battery on an external charger or on board via USB? If external, a decent charger will run you another $20 or more.

I’d prefer onboard charging unless the light is just so amazing that I’ve to buy it. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m worried that opening and closing the light will wear the threads and affect its waterproofness.

Usually the rubber cap over the usb charging port will wear out quite fast.
If you keep the threads lubed and clean, it will last very long

In the instance of the PT16, you unscrew the head to charge but wearing the threads out is indeed not a concern. As Yokiamy says, keep clean and lubed. They are also thick square cut threads. The only thing to really wear is the O-Ring. Extra is included. And he's right about those types that have a rubber cover over the charging port...easily broken/lost. To be avoided in my opinion.

Most flashlight o-rings are standard sizes, too, so you can buy more for literally pennies each on places like EBay.
