Can someone explain to me why the R50 Seeker (2500 lumens) appears brighter than the SR Mini II (3200 lumens)? Plus the Seeker is more green and is supposed to have more throw but it looks like it’s the other way around.
Using the code: 2017FNL at Banggood gives you 30% discount on the BLFA6 which is even available in non anodized
The code shows in the banner on top of blf (flashlight clearance) so seems legit
Why is it $6 more and it doesn’t even include a battery? Is there anything else that’s different from the anodized one? The HAIII should be more durable correct?
The non anodized is nice in that it won't show wear as much as black anodized. When abraded enough, the black anodization comes off and exposes the raw aluminum underneath. Not sure why it's more expensive. Others here probably can tell you. One other consideration beyond just the light is service after the sale. I've bought from Gearbest and had no problems (except the wait from China to US) but if the light came defective or damaged and I had to return/exchange it, another long wait. Mountain Elect. and Illumn.com sell lights that are mostly sourced from China but stocked in US. Returns are usually easier/ faster. No experience with Banggood.
When you say you want rechargeable, do you plan to charge the battery on an external charger or on board via USB? If external, a decent charger will run you another $20 or more.
I’d prefer onboard charging unless the light is just so amazing that I’ve to buy it. I’m worried that opening and closing the light will wear the threads and affect its waterproofness.
In the instance of the PT16, you unscrew the head to charge but wearing the threads out is indeed not a concern. As Yokiamy says, keep clean and lubed. They are also thick square cut threads. The only thing to really wear is the O-Ring. Extra is included. And he's right about those types that have a rubber cover over the charging port...easily broken/lost. To be avoided in my opinion.
If it’s just for walking, could I suggest a headlight? Boruit RJ02, <10bux, takes an 18650, has built-in recharging (w/ rubber plug), takes standard 20mm TIR lenses so you can swap them out anytime to get anything from narrow-angle throw to wide-angle flood and anything in-between, and did I mention it’s <10bux? Buy 5 of ’em…
Else, the Ultrafire DV-S9 is a diving-light with magnetic slider, so goes from off to moonlight to full-tilt with 1” of travel. Ie, infinite variations in brightness, no need for modes. Takes a 26650, so it’s a wider body, nice and grippy, comfortable to hold, and using the included sleeve can take an 18650 as well to lighten it up. Stick a 3400mAH panny-B cell in it, and it’ll last forever at lower brightness, but you can crank it up to full-tilt with a quick finger-twitch. <20bux, more like 15-16.
