Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

Some bed time reading if you really want to know about the Inverse Square Law:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverse-square_law

Sound is same principle but not the same rule (explained on wikipedia), in case you wondered  :student:

You can always ask a photographer, as flash photography requires a good understanding of when to move lights closer, and how much power you will need if you move them further away…

Also another thread with a deal is: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/45779

We were not talking about the inverse square law. We were talking about how the eyes, ears and brain perceive a doubling of either light or sound. It’s more of a psychological thing and not so much a mathematical equation.

Laws of physics still apply, not matter what your brain thinks…

In terms of Q8, max output is still insane if measured or perceived

True, but that’s still not the subject we were talking about.

The Miller
You said you have the actual production videos. Can you upload them for us?

In biology, laws of physics do apply, but it is a disordered interaction of so many physics equations that no result can ever be calculated. Biologists need a complete different tool set than the clear Newton’s equations, the ‘laws’ that biologists use are an extract of real life measurements that may or may not be applied to new situations. (see also ‘fuzzy logic’ )

In case of the sensitivity of the human eye you may look for a measured light level/human perception curve and that will certainly not be lineair or simple logarithmic.

Oh cr@p being a bit sick with a mild fever and busy so no time to rest made me forget this
Will try to do it today

Not nearly a production video, a few fragments of some first machining steps. Still nice to see though.

“Laws of physics still apply, not matter what your brain thinks… ”

Yes.

But.

The IR test function of the Lii 500 is unreliable. I have a couple & love the chargers but just be aware the IR test results are not very reliable.

Check out HKJ’s review for more info.

And here are the videos and pictures combined!

Thanks for making the compilation despite not feeling well, I hope for more video’s from Barry

So cool to see them taking shape.

How can they be so affordable? The raw material, cnc, labor… It’s amazing that this project is coming to light. Thank you The Miller and team!

Is that a CNC? Group Buy on the machine?

strange. I would think it is cheaper to use a long bar to cut the heads from in the cnc. To cut it before the CNC would add human operating time but perhaps it will safe some material. But the separate heads had to be spanned in the CNC which produces more outcut material.

Everyone has a style of doing things, and virtually everyone will argue their way is best. As long as they can keep quality up and price down, how does it matter what gum they chew during the process?

Nice but…

Get well soon! er… now! You’re the Q8 torch-bearer!

Thank you!

Saturday night a very heavy fog rolled in so I took a few lights out to play.

If you’re wondering what a Q8 beam looks like in the fog, here’s a sneak preview.

First shot from roughly a foot away.

Here’s the same shot cropped a bit so you can see the water vapor more clearly in the air.

This last shot was from about 8 feet away. It was very hard to look at even from this angle!

Fun! :+1:
