I will not talk about the material of the clip, as I don’t have expertise for that.
I have a Manker E11 (I guess it is similar to the Utorch UT01), and they come with a very strong pocket clip, maybe titanium, idk.
I guess it was supposed to be deep pocket clip, but its design and the strength in the last 40% of the clip makes it difficult to put it in a jeans pocket.
This said, besides the material, I guess the design and “functionality” (meaning: a nice looking and well made clip that really accomplishes its functions of being…a pocket clip) have to be taken into account to make it a good clip for the awesome flashlight we’ll get.
Thanks to the folks that have been working on this Thumbs Up

I used to have the problem with my E11 also. Assuming the light is inside the pocket and the clip outside… try pulling the pocket material outward and away from the body of the light as the clip is slid down all the way. It used to give me fits, now it’s easy. If you look at how the clip is built you’ll see why this works. Or to put it another way, why it’s such a PITA if it isn’t done. The material comes up against a hard stop.

Eheh, I figured it out after a while using the Manker E11, the clip works really fine, and the light gets well stored in the pocket.
But my point is that I guess it is preferable to have a clip that is more simple to operate, without sacrificing the safety for us and for the light Wink
But if the work has come that far to make the FW3A a reality, to make a clip for this light will be a piece of cake Big Smile

The original GB BLF A6 had a Titanium clip and imo was/is a good design but they (still) mess it up by not working it correctly and not using a thick enough material. Then instead of modifying the process and material thickness to make it right they switched to a thicker super hard stainless and continue the same process of manufacture which still turns out a well designed crapily made clip with lower quality metal. (Titanized stainless A6 clip at banggood)

Yeah I've broken a few also. At least with the original Titanium ones you could heat it up and re bend it.

I reshaped mine (titanium) as soon as I got it and I've been carrying it everyday for 2 years now and even though it's flimsy its still my favourite because of it's deep carry design.

Does anyone of you have experience with the clips Lumintop already includes with their lights? For example the ED11 or the EDC25

Since these clips look good and I assume the clip for the FW3A should be of similar quality.

No experience with them but judging by the pictures the quality and precision of the bends look top notch. I particularly like the SDmini and the EDC25.

Personally I never use clips on my lights, they just sit at the bottom of my pocket. So if I had the option, I’d rather not spend more on a clip Id never use

Genius! Why stop at deep carry when we can have DEEP carry?

It should be just like this:

Right now we wait for reply from Lumintop.
I think the GT had their priority now.
They are very fast responding to that and want to make it “before the busy season” for the GT is something else. I guess the FW3A can fit their product range batter and thus be taken care off later.
So well we have to wait because of our own GT project, sorry to those not at all interested in that but it is what it is Wink

Yea I know, on the bright side, the FW3X lights could very well become Lumintops triple line up, hence they don’t mind making that during the season.

Since my pockets aren’t all the same size, I’d need an adjustable depth deep deep pocket clip.

Yes will do!
Interesting with all the attention for the D4 I kind of expected this to go faster
Main differences
3 instead of 4 LEDs
Full blown Narsil vs a special D4 UI
Waiting vs right to order
Very small vs small
Anodization
Tail vs side switch
Cost
True TLF/BLF project vs commercial light with aid of BLFers
I must say I am tempted by the D4 but even if I was not involved in the FW3A the full Narsil, cool anodization and elegant looks with a tail switch would make me wait for the FW3A.

I am on the list for the fw3a and can’t wait to see it. Having said that, however, I have 2 D4s and have a third on order. What can I say? I have got it bad.

The correct answer is just to get both like I plan to. Both are different enough and the FW3A just has a technological mechanical cool factor.

Really like the fact that three of the (many more then just 3 of course) nicest BLFers I know have coded for and worked on the D4.
But they also added to the FW3A among many more so even here the FW3A wins Wink
Still having a hard time not to order one Big Smile
