The “real” Ti handle clone version (quite good to perceive by the screw for the stainless lock bar insert) of the ZT0808 is currently avaiable at Dc_outdoor,
which i.m.o. is one of the recommandable sellers on DHgate. But with 61.21 $ it is far from being as budget as the steel version.

At post No. 2033 on this thread BLF member @Erethryn, who seems to live in the U.K. as well, says that it’s possible to modify the Ganzo F759M into a slipjoint, and where is even to find a link where is sth. to read about how to do it.
There are also some clones of Sydercos Byrd Tern slipjoint knife “hanging around”, that are avaiable around 10 $ or even less as well.

The Ganzo F759M is on sale at GearBest at the moment for $7.99 for black.

I found the back-lock to slipjoint mod.

Just an update on that, I may have gotten lucky on my first attempt or unlucky on the second one I tried to modify.

The first one still works great as a slipjoint (carrying it today in fact), but I messed up the grinding on the second one. It sometimes slips, but occasionally “locks”. The metal of the back lock now protrudes out too high too.

Basically, it’s definitely possible to do, but you may wreck a knife or two before getting it right.

Thanks, there seems to a lot of cheap China knives with no-lock, But i think the Spyderco clone i saw had no-lock but was out of stock, I think maybe i miss-remmber.

I’ve got a “C94” from Aliexpress, the bevel was slightly off centre, but for the price it’s a really nice copy of the UKPK.

Why do some folders come with one teflon washer & one brass washer.

I guess blade centering (different thickness) might be the reason.

I’ve just ordered one, so I’ll let you know, but it appears to be the same construction as the C94. G10 scales with no liners. I’m happy enough with that construction on the C94.

As for the pocket clip, the wire may be a bit soft. I’ve just had to take to the one off my C94 to slightly bend it back down as it had moved away from the scales.

If it`s G10 it should be alright.

I am looking a cheap pouch to fit an Rough Rider 3.5" Canoe folder to stop it rubbing on my K18 SS flashlight, I can only find 4.5" and above, even a DIY solution, The folder is only £11 so i dont want to spend much.

I have even looked at the swiss army knife pouches.

Today, another french knife that was unknown to me : Le Bélier par la Fourmi

Very douk-douk-esque style knife :

• ~3” / 8.5cm carbon steel blade (XC75), black finish but also exists in satin finish blade
• (very) strong slipjoint spring
• slim and light (72g)

You can find it on ebay (search terms “couteau la fourmi”), around ~30usd

I bought an Tuf-Cloth but i cannot stand the smell, it`s awful, So i am back to using 3in1 oil for none food preparing knife.

Being a Magpie, I liking shiny shiny things, so i don't buy carbon steel knives as i would have to force patena them, I don't mind rust on the cutting edge as it`s going to be removed during sharpening anyway, if the rest of the blade has a good shiny anti-rust coating, maybe titanium, any other coatings ??

Carbon steel seems to flex further than stainless without breaking, and keeps an sharp edge a bit longer.

In my metal working experience stainless that I’ve worked with is quite bendy, I’m unsure of the alloys they use in knives… Typically if carbon steel is used on a knife it’s probably been hardened to 50+, in that case it’s not so bendy anymore… Titanium is a metal that’s fairly hard and can still flex, but it’s a real pain to work and get the hardness right because it can also become brittle. I’m not sure what you’re looking for as most “hard” metals will form a petina over time
