Wrist watches. Post pics, if you EDC one!

It’s funny because I pulled the trigger and ordered one a couple of days ago.
I was amazed by the super engineer 2 every time I saw it but at that price I could easily double the value even of my most expensive watch.

Wow, that’s quite impressive! :+1:
I guess it weights at least twice as much as the “SE2”.

Realy like that green dail!

It certainly adds weight, especially over the jubilee bracelet they came with. But i kind of like some heft in my watches, know its there type of feel .

Cheers

I just noticed something:

At least as far as the posts with (surviving - lots of dead images) photos go, only two maniacs wear their watches on the inside of the wrist

See John Wick, for example.

Speaking of old watches, I purchased the Tag Heuer 25 years ago. I recently sent it in for service because the date was getting stuck in between days every once in a while. Some parts were replaced, and everything internally was cleaned. I had them replace the battery and seals as well. The service wasn’t cheap because it was an authorized service center. It was well worth it since I purchased in Las Vegas in 1992 while I was at my best friend’s wedding. I hope to have it for the rest of my life.

the problem with plastic “resin” bands is rot, after 5-10 years, they start cracking and falling apart.

plus a metal watch bracelet is like 10x faster to put on and take off.

also doesn;t get smelly

wle

I’ve never had a plastic resin band get smelly, and I’ve had, and still have Casio G shock watches dating back to the early 90’s. That said, my bands never lasted more than a few years at best.

right, the resin rot usually is a function of time, not wear time, so it can be unworn and still fall apart in 5 years.

and usually the resin bands can’t be replaced by something simple , because they have some fancy shape that interlocks with the watch body.

though there are usually cheap replacements (as well as $75 OEM ones) - you can;t just convert it to a $1 nato-clone strap from aliexpress

Thats a solid EDC you got :sunglasses:
25 years is not the shortest of times to wear the same watch!

atbglenn, thats a very smart TAG is that, really like it :sunglasses:

Coming from you, the master watch collector, I say thanks. The Tag is very important to me because it marks an important time in my life. Being still young and my best friend getting married. BTW, all of us who went to the wedding are from New York. We all flew out to Las Vagas and stayed at the Mirage Hotel for a week. We all had the best time of our lives.

BTW…

The Superengineer linked above is also available in Aliexpress for 18.89EUR

That sounds amazing and no doubt adds to the occasion when you wear that special watch. Its not just the design/colour, but how kind of discrete it is for a TAG, as a package it makes for a very nice piece.

Me, well i am amateur at best, only have a hand full and seem to have stopped. I thought to have a watch for every day is enough(for a week that is, not a year! )I think i am content at 7 as i have not looked for a while. What may push me one day would be another seiko atlas like

You may laugh but I think I have just recently started to separatelly save to different account for Grand Seiko :expressionless:

:sunglasses: good luck with the saving, pics when you get there please :+1:

Speaking of old watches indeed, Glenn. I had to replace both batteries on mine (one for the digital display, another for the analog bands). Cost a pretty penny, but certainly worth it.

The 5028’s band is stainless, yes, but it has the problem of smell regardless: the links have a system that I’ve never seen, presumably for easy removal and placement, and they’re full of nooks and crannies on the inside where dead skin builds up with constant use. And lemme tell ya, it’s NOT easy to clean them.

I’m gonna let it soak on some soap-and-detergent solution tonight then scrub the entire band with an old toothbrush. Maybe it’ll do.

Care to share the model ? spring drive ?

My favorite is the SBGJ017 high beat automatic GMT

Got a 20mm nylon watch band for my Timex Expedition Crono from this eBay seller for $1.42 each. The quality is excellent, especially for the price. They come in 18mm as well. They’re available 4 different colors. I purchased 3 in brown, black, and green.
