[2017-08-19] Routine maintenance downtime coming soon [FINISHED]

QUICK MESSAGE:

Hi everyone, the site will be offline for brief routine maintenance, starting 30 minutes from the time of this post, at the bottom of the hour (17h30 GMT). Sorry for the inconvenience!

Done! Please let me know in this thread if you run into any new issues. Thanks!

Good luck! :+1:

Five more minutes!

Good luck, thanks for the heads up!

Could you add the blogspot link to the website downtime message, because right now only us old timers know about it.

Also i noticed this seems to happen every 3 months-ish, i assume thats normal?

When the site is down for maintenance, I like to imagine SB wearing a hard hat, wielding a wrench and hammer, and deftly realigning the ones and zeros to keep BLF working properly.

Thank you for all of your hard work, SB! :+1:

Good idea, I just added it.

Basically I update whenever a security patch is released for any one of the dozens of components that make up the BLF site engine. I also do base operating system upgrades every 9 - 18 months as required.

Thanks for the glamorous description! In reality, as long as something doesn’t break, maintenance is usually just a matter of waiting on the pre-upgrade backups to complete, and then waiting on the system to finish the upgrade process, so it’s not too difficult, just slightly time consuming.

cool, cool

BLF is running slower today, it often takes a while for a page to start loading. No idea if its related to this update.
