I think you mixing this with the Q8. The GT needs a backpack size pouch.

Tracked e packet I think will be used. For those the 2KG max makes it necessary to send in 2.

When will the $14 be due? I keep checking in and the thread is impossibly long to keep up with at this point

LOL, OK, so that’s why people buy two of the same light. I never understood it before, thank you for the explanation !

The good thing about your situation is that it will open up extra units for those who want them at the cheaper price.

Not clear
2 things

1 mass pm via BLF/Mr Scott reducing human error awaiting results

2 pics of improvements made by LT, if we can show improvement on the prototypes it feels much better to ask for down payment for we can show more.

So sorry, relax, and it will come.

What about shoulder strap, how do we get one?
You search on amazon for “shoulder strap” and find one that you like. I don’t think lumintop is going to bother making their own when there are plenty of cheap and good ones already available everywhere.
Any suggestion?

Ted, I went with a China made military type with shock cords on the ends from ebay for the L6. For the GT I’ll go the same route. It was ridiculously inexpensive @ $10 or less from what I remember. They had them in various colors.

I found an ebay page that lists them. >>>>>click here<<<<<

I just looked them over since I need at least 3 anyway. This is what I bought. >>>>click here<<<<
The rest of the inexpensive ones with free shipping only had one buckle and they will slip, so you want 2 buckles per end. Buy 3 and get 15% off. Put four in your cart to get that deal. So I have a spare. No big deal.

Been very busy at work, so I haven’t been here for a little while. Checked messages and didn’t see any new ones and was wondering what the status was on this bad boy ?

Quick question about sending.

This is what I found: Those in countries where DHL shipping causes lots of taxes ask alternative, and the GT will be send in two parcels.

What does it mean? All lights will be sent by DHL, but if your countrie has some Tax issues (like the Netherlands) they will send it in 2 parcels? Then the amount is still too high and we have to pay 2 times the taxes. 1 for each parcel.

I live in the Netherlands too. With DHL your are always charged for tax. DHL is very strict with that. But with Chinapost for example, most of the time you don't have to pay any tax.

I hope it’s ok to show these images.
These are taken from the latest CAD files from Lumintop.
Here is a render from the light included knurling. (first time making a render) (clickable)

And here is the newly designed battery carrier. Keep in mind these are just images from a CAD file(!), so the real version can be different. (clickable)

The red parts/area, they are plastic?

That’s what was talked about being removed by the user to allow flat top cells?

Correct, if you must use flat top cells and won’t solder blob then you can remove that piece.

I hope to mod it with an XHP70.2 in the prototype but I am waiting for the mcpcb. Lumintop is suppose to have it made and send it with the samples. It should be an almost drop in mod if all goes well. An XM-L2 would be kinda pointless as it would offer both less throw and less lumens then the stock LED… An XP-L HI would be about half the lumens and basically the same throw …

I always thought xm-l2 a xp-l leds were better at throw than xhp35 leds. Which is apparently incorrect.
What mpcb for xhp70.2 are you talking about? Does the design of the GT thrower require a special mpcb? Would this http://www.international.mtnelectronics.com/index.php?route=product/prod... fit or not?

All of the direct comparisons I have seen with the XP-L HI and XHP35 HI have had the results be virtually the same. Including my own testing. For example I have 2 Convoy L2’s here. 1 of them is an XP-L HI, the other is an XHP35 HI.

Which one throws further is more a matter of the exact battery charge level but generally the xhp35 comes out slightly ahead. The lumen and usability race always goes to the xhp35 though, it has almost twice the lumen and almost twice the hotspot size.

That mcpcb should technically fit I suppose but you would most likely need to make some new holes for mount it. Also it is a 6V mcpcb, we need a 12V mcpcb for the GT, this is the primary reason for the new mcpcb.

The only other DTP option for a 12V xhp70 is the 20mm sinkpad. That would require a fair amount of extra work to make it work, and not something lumintop could put into proudction if it works out.

Just looked in on this thread for the first time in months after getting numerous email alerts asking me to check that I am on the list.
I am & in the first 550 Thumbs Up
DHL will mean me paying an extra $40 on top of the $111 here in the UK as DHL charge an admin fee on top of the 20% VAT we have to pay so I will be going with the “other” shipping option Wink
Looking forward to this light & the Q8 group buy I am in Thumbs Up

Large capacity cells I’d say, amps draw is not high and you’ll need voltage to sustain regulation.

Edit; wrong thread
The Q8 needs button top cells, but solder blobs do the job well (see Tom E his pictures above)
Panasonic ncr18650ga also will work fine, since you only need 2,5 A

You may have missed it, LT will be offering a deal to buy 8 of there own brand cells with the light.

Which is nice.

We cannot buy Liion from China, except of the 4pcs samsung inr18650 30q button top, with protected box, which I ordered today after a post from BLFer Elvic.
Unfortunately, there is not such an option for the Panasonics. If some guy can communicate with some of the BG staff,it could be possible to sell Panasonics with the protected box.
Edit.
Which type of batteries should be used, button top,or flat top?

There is one eBay.com seller(neobattery) from Greece who sells and ships batteries to most places in EU I think.
I have ordered from him couple of times and shipped within a week to Finland.

The GT will work with pretty much any cells, I have been using some laptop pulls with good results in the prototype.

The 30Q will maintain full regulation a bit longer but GA’s will last longer overall. I would not stress out too much over the cells.
