[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

Been very busy at work, so I haven’t been here for a little while. Checked messages and didn’t see any new ones and was wondering what the status was on this bad boy ?

Look 2 posts up.

Waiting for manufacture on revised/improved battery carrier

I live in the Netherlands too. With DHL your are always charged for tax. DHL is very strict with that. But with Chinapost for example, most of the time you don't have to pay any tax.

Got it. Thx for the heads up…

I hope it’s ok to show these images.
These are taken from the latest CAD files from Lumintop.
Here is a render from the light included knurling. (first time making a render) (clickable)

And here is the newly designed battery carrier. Keep in mind these are just images from a CAD file(!), so the real version can be different. (clickable)

Thanks Thijsco!

The red parts/area, they are plastic?

That’s what was talked about being removed by the user to allow flat top cells?

Correct, if you must use flat top cells and won’t solder blob then you can remove that piece.

Thank you. :+1:

I always thought xm-l2 a xp-l leds were better at throw than xhp35 leds. Which is apparently incorrect.
What mpcb for xhp70.2 are you talking about? Does the design of the GT thrower require a special mpcb? Would this http://www.international.mtnelectronics.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=63_111&product_id=811 fit or not?

All of the direct comparisons I have seen with the XP-L HI and XHP35 HI have had the results be virtually the same. Including my own testing. For example I have 2 Convoy L2’s here. 1 of them is an XP-L HI, the other is an XHP35 HI.

Which one throws further is more a matter of the exact battery charge level but generally the xhp35 comes out slightly ahead. The lumen and usability race always goes to the xhp35 though, it has almost twice the lumen and almost twice the hotspot size.

That mcpcb should technically fit I suppose but you would most likely need to make some new holes for mount it. Also it is a 6V mcpcb, we need a 12V mcpcb for the GT, this is the primary reason for the new mcpcb.

The only other DTP option for a 12V xhp70 is the 20mm sinkpad. That would require a fair amount of extra work to make it work, and not something lumintop could put into proudction if it works out.

Thanks, it makes sense.

Thanks…you’re right…the Miller has 3 light projects going and I’m on all 3…

Just looked in on this thread for the first time in months after getting numerous email alerts asking me to check that I am on the list.
I am & in the first 550 :+1:
DHL will mean me paying an extra $40 on top of the $111 here in the UK as DHL charge an admin fee on top of the 20% VAT we have to pay so I will be going with the “other” shipping option
Looking forward to this light & the Q8 group buy I am in :+1:

As I said above I haven”t been following this thread :person_facepalming:
What are the best cells for the GT please ?

Large capacity cells I’d say, amps draw is not high and you’ll need voltage to sustain regulation.

Sony vtc6
Samsung 30q
Edit; wrong thread
The Q8 needs button top cells, but solder blobs do the job well (see Tom E his pictures above)
Panasonic ncr18650ga also will work fine, since you only need 2,5 A

You may have missed it, LT will be offering a deal to buy 8 of there own brand cells with the light.

Which is nice.

We cannot buy Liion from China, except of the 4pcs samsung inr18650 30q button top, with protected box, which I ordered today after a post from BLFer Elvic.
Unfortunately, there is not such an option for the Panasonics. If some guy can communicate with some of the BG staff,it could be possible to sell Panasonics with the protected box.
Edit.
Which type of batteries should be used, button top,or flat top?

There is one eBay.com seller(neobattery) from Greece who sells and ships batteries to most places in EU I think.
I have ordered from him couple of times and shipped within a week to Finland.
