[PART 1] Official BLF GT Group Buy thread. Group buy officially closed! Lights shipping.

You are right guys, to each his own. While I can imagine modding mine with an xhp 70.2, there will surely be other BLFers willing to swap in an oslon black flat to turn the GT into a laser.

Michael Johnson (aka saabluster), the maker of my Deft-X, has the Rev Victor as successor already reaching 1.4mcd (same host, using the newer S4 bin XPG2 at that time) and both models are not over-driven and will run MORE than a minute, sustain it, at turbo, so doubt no more.

Giggles Thermodynamics?

Giggles Theflashaholicway?

Giggles Thousandandonecandela?

(do you see the Foy influence here, anyone? :stuck_out_tongue: )

All the above are nice lights no doubt but the difference being they are all modified. This light is available to everyone as a stock light.
I cant wait to see what these wizards do with this light.

Yup, but it is a much bigger light with a ton of cooling fins compared to the UF1508.
This is probably why the UF1508 is only 800-1000 kcd while the rev victor is nearing 1.4M.

At the beginning it was clear a smaller die led would give higher CD
The GT is not a pencil beam, it is a sharpie beam, not max CD, but easy to mod , not max lumens, again relatively easy to mod.
Yet stock throwing more then the king, TN42, making the GT the emperor

Can’t wait for the mods, it ought to be a really nice foundation to build on

Check with your local community college. They may have a laser engraver (as well as other fun toys). I had to take a 2 hour class, but can now play with their toys.

Thank you sir. I am good to go

Lol someone mind pming me so I can make sure my email alerts work?

there is a local shop that has Co2 laser cutter(60w i guess), not sure if it can engrave on this light

Done and done.

Cheers David

The one I use is 50W so it should work fine. Doesn’t take that much power to cut through the ano.

Another place to check are “maker spaces” They can have laser cutters. Libraries are also starting to offer these kinds of services in some areas. Also check Craigslist, there is usually a shop that does it in most metro areas. Post a wanted ad if nothing comes up.

Laser cutters will get to be like 3D printers at some point, still a bit too costly to make them super common right now.

You may also want to check out “Fab Labs” which spun off of an MIT class called “How To Make (Almost) Anything”.

The following link is to search for Fab Labs around the globe.

https://www.fablabs.io/labs/map

i just remember i have a 3d printer, if i stick a 2.5w laser module, will it work?

Looks like there are two Fab Labs in Ho Chi Minh City, both with lasers. (One 40W and one unspecified.)

thanks mate, but as i said i want to do this myself, i have some lights that i want to engrave them too, the fablab you mentioned is quite far from my house, it takes about 1 hour to come there

:+1:

Oh my! One hour drive to get somewhere is unrealistic? We dang near go that far to feed the dawg! :stuck_out_tongue: All kidding aside, people here drive an hour one way to work all the time, that’s if the traffic isn’t bad. To drive an hour, even two, just to go out to eat or go shopping is the normal, everybody does it. (And the highways are packed with some crazy drivers too!)

So now I’m wondering if my 3.3Amp blue laser will burn anodizing (I don’t know it’s wattage, 2 Li-ion cells at 3.3A should have it around 20 Watts, yes?)… it very quickly burns most things I’ve had in front of it.

(Reminding myself to heal before trying anything else dangerous.)

ahh, you dont know about my city traffic, do you?
traffic jam, everyday, everywhere(1 hour for 10-15km travelling)
if you can test your laser burn anodizing, i would appreciate it

After must consideration , sadly I have to withdraw my slot @ 318 for others.

Sorry !

Minimoke.

Glad to see the engraving thing turned into a DIY and not implemented for all, love the Giggles text for sure but love little to no engravings better

Will update the list later.
However I think the mass pm will be send based on the previous update so ignore it if you don’t want it after all.
