1.SPAIN

Hi southland.

My name is @@@@ and I am from Spain.

I will tell you part of the problems that I had in my life since many years ago… that have put me in bad situation.

Today I am 35 years old. When I was a kid… (10 years old) my brother had a car accident and since then, he suffers from spastic tetraplejia and epilepsy. He makes his life always on a bed. He needs help from other person to do basic everyday things. He can not eat by himself… can not move… can not change clothes… can not walk… Can not clean by himself… He can not talk…etc…

He had the accident in 1992… and since that year… my life and the life of the rest of my family has gone downhill…

I have been forced since January 2009 to give my everyday life to help him and my mother. I dont have any personal life… I dont have job… I dont have nothing because I have to take care of him and my mother… It is my decision… no one has forced me to do that. I have choosen to do that…… (not much people will do that)

My mother currently is 77 years old and can not take care from my brother. My father died 2 years ago. I have 3 brothers more but none of them comes here to help…… they are “living their own life” and dont want to know about the problem… (yes… they are very good persons XP).

As told before… I can not work. (I can do… but if so… I will leave my brother with my mother and that will be the end for both)… In my life I have only worked for 3 and a half years… and I stopped having jobs since 2009… We only have the economic help that the government gives for my brother (about 500euro per month) and the money that government gives to my mother (about 300euro per month). I have had esporadic economic helps from government wich are 400 euro per month but only during 6 months. No economic help for me since years… priority is priority. Medicines and medical care is priority.

My only “pleasures” and “distractions” are BLF… flashlights and not much else XP… but I can not afford to invest money in such things…. I want… but I cant….

I think you can split all the items you have to 2 or 3 persons in bad situation… that way not only one takes the advantage.

If you decide that I could be one of the persons in bad situation… I would like to know if gearbest has given you chargers and batteries as merchandise (or just given you 100$ to spend in gearbest or whatever)… because I recently won @@@@ gaw and I should receive @@@@ flashlights… and I will have flashlights but no batteries nor chargers XP. I would prefer a good charger and batteries instead of convoy s2 flashlights. Or… good flashlights powered with AA batteries which are easy to find here and easy to use be my old mother…

You can tell my story… but not publish my name or username. I prefer to be anonymous…

If you want to know something more… just ask me.

Thanks and have a nice day, mate.

2.BRAZIL

Hey southland, thanks for giving us this unique opportunity. I’ll give it a shot.

I’m from Brazil, and the country is going through a very bad political and economic crisis right now. The dollar’s over triple the value of the Brazilian currency, the real, after a stint when it was four times the value of the real. Doing the conversion math, I don’t make even $9K a year.

It wouldn’t be terrible if I had only the usual expenses (water, power, car maintenance, taxes), as I live together with a retired loved one and a 9 year old child, but a while back I decided to purchase an apartment to give my family a better home, and I’ve been spending so much on the costs and mortgage that my personal funds went down the drain. I had to save for two to three months to be able to pay for the last two lights I got, and this month I had to buy new glasses and it was a nasty bite in the family ledger.

Now, this is not a sob story, or even remotely meant to be interpreted as one; life is tough but I’m soldiering on down here. It’s just the reason why I’ve lamented not being able to afford a torch as shown in several of the threads in the recent past. Priorities are priorities, after all, and flashlights are great, but when you have a small collection of reliable models already, they’re not an immediate concern.

Once again, thank you very much for the chance. I do appreciate yours, Gearbest’s and SubSailorVet’s generosity whether I win or not, and once things get better and I have the luxury of doing a GAW of my own, I’m adopting this model with your permission. The little guy’s gotta look out for the little guy.

My story:
A month ago my father had a stroke. Last July he had a heart attack but had been improving. He is retired but has an issue with Social Security so no medicaid. I, along with my brothers, have been taking care of his house, and dog. I didn’t have extra cash laying around before his stroke and now buying dog food, using more gas driving to his house daily(it’s not very far), and taking care of his yard has depleted more funds. I have worked extra to make extra but the extra work is taking its toll on my health. I have survived cancer twice and my health is not 100%. I’m trying my best as anyone would but I’m tired. Thank you for reading and I appreciate any help. There was a Nitecore headlamp for sale on this forum tonight and I passed on it because I didn’t want to spend the $20.00.

Hi mate, the above post may be partially directed at me from my comment in the tan S2+ thread so I thought I should PM you. I don’t think I really qualify to enter, however since you have started such a great idea and I really respect what you are doing I thought that I would take the time to share my story with you, if you are interested.

The tl;dr version is that I have had a chronic illness for the past 9 years and therefore I’m not able to work frequently, and my wife has recently developed gallstones and needs an operation that we can’t afford. However I have been lucky in the past and won a couple of lights and a charger, and recently have been sent 2 lights to review.

5.SPAIN

Dear southland,

here’s my story:

Been into substance problems for the last 9 years, though I can say I’m mostly if not completely rehabilitated right now.

Some years ago, due to depression, I got into investigating entheogens. The search looking for the cause to my maladies started. I was also diabetic and maybe a few allergies.

I worked with my father in a lottery office my family opened in 1984 or so since 2001. Left university in 1997, my first year in it, due to diabetes and depression by the end of 1996. Life wasn’t sweet in no other area but computers and videogames by then.

In 2001 I decided to help my father in the business, he was retired already due to a bike accident and the doctors/surgeons didn’t sterilized their surgery tools properly and father was infected in his leg with osteomyelitis (link is external); he was deemed disabled because his deep leg scar never fully healed. He lost a considerable amount of tissue in the leg from the bike crash , the surgeons had to transplant tissue from the oppossing calf muscle into his massive wound in his tibialis anterior (link is external) and nearby structures. Knee joint was also affected, and he got other small amounts of tissue removed from his lower back, if I remember right. I was born by the end of 1975, 10 years after his vicissitude.

I was the last of three siblings, my brother was born in 1966 and my sister in 1960. Father’s income from social security was very low, so he had to work off the books as a farmer and as a shop assistant until we opened the lottery office, with my mother as the business title holder. Unfortunately she died in 1988 from a brain tumor the doctors couldn’t deal with. Father had a hard time making the lottery shop a thriving business and mother’s death made things worse. He had a temper.

In the early 1990s father paired up with the sister of my mother uncle and godfather, which then lived in Madrid, a place I often lived in between 1980 and 1981 because aunt and uncle loved me a lot and I was very pleased to play in their home with small die cast (link is external) vehicles. My maternal grandfather died in 1981 on a construction site, run over by a truck going backwards. At the time, most vehicles didn’t had reversing lights, and big vehicles were also deprived from reversing tune/alarm, something mandatory now.

At times I was a brilliant student, but I felt something was missing somehow. I retook three years in high school, 7 out of 4, the last one being 1995-96 after dealing with compulsory military service the year before. By the end of 1996 I was hospitalized and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (link is external). Belief issues I had, of course, and got sick with depression too. Years of not being able to be focused and happy with jobs and spending my time mostly with PC computers and videogames happened until 2004-2006, a time in which, previously inspired by the work of John Cunningham Lilly (link is external) and a russian doctor trial document describing how he fully healed more than 50% of heroin drug addicts long term with ketamine (link is external) therapy sessions, downloaded from the internet in ≈2003.

2004 to 2006 was great. I had already learned from nursery docs how to administer myself the drug/medicine with intramuscular injections, the way it was meant to be used. Despite media bullshit, I believe ketamine was probably developed for the US government by Parke & Davis (now Pfizer (link is external)), as a field anesthetic. With ketamine, a single doctor/nurse could provide first aid surgery to a soldier at the front, as it provides a deep dissociative anesthesia without supressing respiratory reflexes, while its short duration half-life allows the patient to recover from it very quickly. Its effect on my psyche was deep and powerful, it truly is an effective antidepressant. Classic psychiatric drugs, in my experience, are mostly mind controlling substances as I discovered later.

I stopped using my medicine by the end of 2006, I fell from bed and my parents noticed what was going on. Coincidentally, there were some regulation changes in medical supplies which deemed a tight distribution control with such sort of hospital/nurse use only drugs. I said goodbye to it and continued with life. By the time I was a lot more involved with our lottery business, which had thrived during those last years. We had a nice home with two cars and plenty of health problems.

2006 to 2008. Going out partying became common for me, met many different people, started using certain research chemical stimulants/empathogens (link is external). I took part in a 10-day Vipassana (link is external) meditation retreat in the second quarter of 2007. I had been into jogging three times per week, 7+Km (≈4.5 miles on average) each run, for the most part, and other exercising since 2002, by the way.

In 2008 I had some profound mystical experiences, and got into some addiction problems. Got in two rehab centers, never finished any of them and got home in January, 2009. Continued with my addictions, with abuse deliriums/ravings once or twice a year and many hospitalizations; my diabetes was cumbersome, too, though fortunately my self-love allowed me to have a nice enough management of my illness, and helped myself too with vitamin supplements (benfotiamine (link is external) and B1/B6/B12 combo pills).

In 2011 I met a nice girl which dared to tell me he needed a boyfriend like me in a rehab center. By november 2011 we were partners, and father was happy. In 2012 father died in the hospital, he was found some rare blood illness, he was in treatment with some rare and expensive medical drugs. In 2013 my darling told me she wanted to take a different path in life, and we agreed to peacefully break it up.

2014 to 2016. Learned from myself, and drug problems got real improvements, including giving up with tobacco by november 2014. Brother gifted me with his 2013 Moto G, a smartphone I am still using and writing this story with. Drug deliriums had a couple by november/december 2016, and finally learned from them. I’ve been BLF active mostly since february, 2016. I am now receiving true healing (link is external), and things look and feel better and better. My type 1 diabetes is healing for real. Innocent

I am now looking to start some sort of business, friends and family are saying quite nice things with regards to my ability to repair/overhaul electronic stuff. My income is from father’s bequest (I live in what was our home, now it belongs to us three siblings) and my share in the lottery business, something I was pushed aside due to my mental conditions. My sister and his sibling mostly take care of it now, though I am still in charge of certain technical aspects of it. They pay my basic needs like home, food and certain help with my tools lately, been overhauling stuff succesfully and they love it.

Mostly done now.

May all beings be happy. Big Smile

Cheers my dear,

@@

Okay, so here’s my story:

After collaborating with @@@@ from the very beginning on the idea of a desert tan Convoy…

I was laid off from my job in mid-April earlier this year. I’ve been job hunting since then, but still haven’t been successful. Now, the tan S2+ has been released, but I’m pinching pennies and can’t buy one at this time. I’ve been waiting on this since it was first mentioned back in the original GREEN convoy thread. I’ve put the new tan light in my shopping cart, but have to wait for a renewed source of income before purchasing.

7.TURKEY

Hello, I do not know if I qualify to enter this giveaway but lets see if I am eligible…

I am 19 years old student from Turkey. I will probably go to university in İstanbul in September, which is the most expensive city of Turkey.

I have been saving some money for months for the stuff I want to buy like the GT project or Q8. Unfortunately, since I have been using the family’s money, they are angry towards to me because of me buying such things, which they are not interested in unlike me, instead of investing in other more important things.

Up to these days, I have found ways to save and buy stuff like flashlights. I have managed to buy Skilhunt H03 2 or 3 months ago in the big gearbest sale. Since then I am saving. With the saved money hopefully I will be able to buy Q8 and FW3A with batteries (I can not buy the gt because it is too expensive considering western union takes a lot of fees and I need to buy batteries. But that’s not a big deal).

After investing my saved money on these, I will not be able to save more because of university and expensive city until (if) I can find a part time job. But I am not sure if that helps because minimum full time job salary is like $450/monthly here. And in İstanbul 1+0 room 30m^2 flats cost $300/monthly while sales tax is minimum %18 and it goes up to %70~.

If you want more details, I can provide.

Whether or not I enter this giveaway, thank you for opening the thread. Not everyone thinks about how poor the life in other 3rd world countries. I hope this giveaway will be helpful for poor people living in poor countries.

I just want to give you a big :+1: and a  for your generosity, and have a bump to the top.

Very good of you to offer this.

Well done giveaway, i hope it goes to someone who will get the most enjoyment. Will such a person already have a battery and charger?

Terrific idea :crown:

Fantastic idea and very generous of you!

Long live BLF

That’s a great idea for a giveaway.
You deserve a big thumbs up :+1:

Yeah nice idea!
Very cool, thanks

Nothing special here, people do giveaways all the time on BLF, just a little more restrictive on who can enter. Will do a giveaway that everyone can enter some time before the end of the year. Thanks for all the bumps. Contest only started about 9 hours ago but still no entries, don’t be shy about entering, will be completely confidential.

I would enter, but I have a couple of Convoy S2's already, and I could afford to buy more if I wanted to.

I'm sure someone qualified will enter.

Just give it a few days.

Great idea. You have paved the way for what I need to do. I think I have about 7 S2+ lights around here. I need 1. And talk about C8s, I have about 12

After conversing with Southland I’ve decided to join in the give away as well. I will donate a remote control drone with built-in wifi video camera. Don’t be shy folks. Send your story to Southland. Good luck!
