Suggestions on 16340 high drain batteries

I have Yezl 16340’s and AW IMR’s for my mini-01. Both are very good high drain cells.

I measured 2.4A at the tail with the Yezl, and just over 3A with the AW IMR.

I hope to try some efest cells in the future.

Thanks for the link Jone.
Can’t seem to find the v2 Efest IMR16340 with 700mAh, is it not available anymore?

V2 efest 16340 with 550mah ( button top), just search ID number ” 3277 “, the you can find the price is USD3.95/pair-2pcs.

Yes I have seen them but they are 550mAh not 700mAh.
Or is it the same battery inside with the real capacity printed on them now?

Hello Fonzeka,

efest imr 16340 real capacity is 700mah, we have two label, one is 550mah, another one is 700mah. But the real capacity is 700mal, you can test it at any time. Some of our customer asked we marked as 550mah. So that’s why we have too labels for this.

Made an order last week but nothing happened so far.
All these crappy similar stores and multiple labels on same battery just makes me want to order some AW’s and be done :~

Anyone tried these protected 16340 from KD?

Get yourself some Yezl 16340’s from Torchythebatteryboy’s eBay shop.
I measured 2.4A max on the Mini-01 with a Yezl, compared to 3A max on an AW IMR, so not that far behind, plus longer runtimes from the Yezl.

+1 on the Yezl batteries. I started using these batteries because they were suggested by MattSPL. I’m glad I listened to him

Just got my first 16340… Gets very hot 45 seconds to 1 minute in, but very good for light output worthy of the 1,000 lumens advertised. Too bad it falls off after 1-3 minutes.

Hello friend,

Bestinone.net was changed to www.efestbattery.com, so you can exactly order the same itmes from efestbattery.com. Bestinone.net have the web panel problems, to avoid this problems, so we just changed to efestbattery.com. Sorry for the inconvenient caused.

Best Regards,

Jone

Your IMR 16340 700mAh V2 I just received from illumn.com are closer to 600 mAh in reality, according to Lii-500, using 0.5A discharge current. Maybe the capacity will increase slightly after several cycles, but I doubt it’ll reach 700 mAh.

They haven’t been on for 3 years. So I doubt they will reply.
But good info to know!

Yeah, I mainly posted it for others to see.

My initial readings were actually below 600 mAh.

But to be fair, I just retested them, after about 8 charge/discharge cycles, and here are the latest readings:

However, I goofed and used 0.25A discharge current this time, so it’s not exactly apples to apples comparison since my initial discharge test used 0.5A current.

As you can see, there is about a 5% difference in tested capacity between the two cells.

There is difference in weight also:
668 mAh cell: 17.2g
635 mAh cell: 17.9g

Not sure what would account for this weight difference, but there is definitely some variance from one cell to another.

Thanks for posting your results Pete! (Even being an old thread!)
I was (am?) looking at those Efest and also at these 2:

I’m not sure if these are good, I couldn’t find results or tests on them.
Maybe I can suggest them to HKJ for a review (if they worth it).
The MXJO and the AWT on 18350 are not bad, for what I could see (well, at least before the Aspire  ), but about these 16340… I don’t know.

BTW, recently got a Olight S1R, weights 54gr with battery! It’s not a 18350, and I’m not sure if it is heavier or lighter than OTR M3, but its “carriable” on a cap

I think the Lii-500 always discharges at 500mA.
The current you can choose is the charging current iirc.

No.
When charging current is 700mA or 1000mA then it discharges at 500mA
Whan charging 250mA or 500mA then discharge is 250mA.

M3 with battery weighs 59g. This is my current “cap light”.

I just wish I could squeeze an 18350 cell in it somehow.

Yup.

Plus you can see in the photos that the discharge time was twice as long the second time around.

Hum, the difference is really small then in terms of weight! Nice!
But the 18350s are really “fatter” considering the dimensions of the 16340s and the flashlight tube :person_facepalming:
I won’t try that with the S1R, I’ll leave it how it is even if runtimes are smaller! :zipper_mouth_face:
