Ok Chidwack-You Win-I Finally Bought A Fenix TK41

Figured I would go ahead and buy one since Chidwack has been telling me how great a light the Fenix TK41 is. And rikr pretty well talked me in to buying one last nite on the phone. You guys are breaking me. LOL! I paid $94.40 from Shopwiseguys. Now I got to get me some NIMH AA batteries.

try to get the 3rd (=latest) generation of Eneloop AA's. model number is HR-3UTGB.

( 2nd gen was HR-3UTGA, and 1st gen was HR-3UTG ).

i am performing a break-in now with my brand-new HR-3UTGA GLITTER (they are numbered!!)

I'll probably go with the Duracells. Might as well support the company I work for.

Duracell with 2450mAh's?? That's even better than the Eneloops!!

( btw, they're the same price. you dont save money by preferring Duracell to Eneloops )

I just bought 16 of these.

That's cheaper than I can buy them at Walmart.

And the Duracells are excellent batteries. High capacity too.

duracell are the best and contain more capacity than Eneloops. self-discharge rate should be higher, though. 1 year later, zilch energy left ;) (juss kiddin)

I wouldn't buy those Duracells... The high self discharge rate of normal NiMH cells is far greater than Eneloops, therefore in long term usage, the Eneloops are way better.

ILF, if you bought 16 cells, you could do the test. Charge all of them, split in two groups, do the runtime test of first group immediately after charging and leave the second group for one month on the shelf. Then after one month do the runtime test of this second group. This will give you an idea, why Eneloops (and other LSD cells) are so popular and highly regarded (despite lower capacity rating on the box).

They will serve my purpose.

Duracell must pay you well. How much have you spent of flashlights in the last 6 months?

i was patiently waiting when you would give in and get a tk41.:)

would like to see it compared against your other throwers like the m3x and 7g5 though it would most likely end up behind those two. still i love my tk41 for the use of AA's.

The picture for those shows two different kinds of cells. Two packages are those 2450 ones and two are Duraloops.

Has anybody done any tests of the 2450 ones?

TK41 is awesome...Ive been looking at it seriously.

IMO, the TK41 is way under-rated

I have had mine for about 8 months, and I have only changed out the batteries twice. Sucker runs a LONG time if you don't always have it in Turbo mode.

I work for the company that owns Duracell.

I don't keep track. But I know it's less than rikr. LOL!

+1

I like flashlights ...

You can say Proctor & Gamble ...

also known as P&G.

My buddy work s for a company that makes stuff for another company ....named shhh.... don't tell anyone ....P&G...

It's all so super secret ...like spy stuff..

P&G?

that's why you can afford that many lights!! $)

maybe i should get a job too. $) :cash: ;)

Yes I can say P&G.

No Ilike, I didn't win, you won. While not quite as good at throwing as the M3X, it's close enough that you will not notice the difference in actual use. The extra spill, extra modes, tailstand ability, battery life and lower cost/longer battery life overall of this light will probably move it to the top of your list. It's just easy to use and even the lowest mode of 10 lumens will really throw a beam a long way. Build quality and finish are excellent. I know it doesn't come with a holster but I think the Jog Strap would fit the bill. LOL

I have some Duracell 2450 batteries and they run longer than my eneloops. They are good batteries. I don't think they will recharge as many times as eneloops or stay charged on the shelf but they will work just fine for you. You did notice that the picture of the Duracell batteries you ordered were not the same didn't you? Two of them are 2450mAh and two packs are low shelf discharge. I don't know which ones you are going to get but you will probably want to keep the same batteries in your light and not mix them.

Anyway, congratulations on your new TK41. It good to know you finally saw the light. (No pun intended) When do you get it?
