S2+

I just got a Convoy S2+ with a biscotti driver, XPL HI, a lighted tailcap, and a clear rubber boot-

Lighted tailcap looks like it has two resistors marked 361-

Running a Samsung30Q button-top-

When I first got it and turned it on, it seemed to work fine, moon, medium, high, strobe, biking, battery-check, sos-

So I charge-up the 30Q, and the torch is whacked....I click and just low, I click, and nothing....then I noticed whenever I loosen the tailcap, then tighten it, it goes through the Group perfectly.

What is wrong with it?

EDIT: driver or switch

Have you checked that the switch retaining ring is tight and the driver retaining ring is tight too?

The switch retaining ring is tight and the driver retaining ring is soldered-in-

??

It may be that the lit tailcap is interacting badly with the Biscotti driver. See here:

and here:

Do you have any S2+ lights with a normal, unlit tailcap? You could try the unlit tailcap and see whether it works that way.

Just bridge from the minus pole of the Battery directly to the flashlight case (Plier, Knife, Tweezers, cable) - you will see if the light lights up or not

Hmm, strange.

Is the pill screwed in tight? I know you said the driver is soldered in, but the pill itself screws in and can sometimes come loose.

Do you have a flat-top cell to try, in case the button top is too long or the spring is skittering off it?

I'll try that, thanks-

Late now, tomorrow I'll put in a flat-top batt, thanks-

I'll update!

Got it to light-up with a flat-top, good call Phlogiston, but it doesn't respond to any configuration settings, stays in one group only-

The flat AW worked, the flat HG2 was N/G-

This flashlight is not working-

Anyway, thanks everyone!

Some weeks ago I received a biscotti driver for a mod, from Simon and it had the same issue, it always turned ON on low and occasionally it switched to another mode/output, but it wasn’t possible to change it by pressing the tailswitch. Then I went to check the driver and a piece was missing. Maybe there is something missing there too…

Maybe the problem!

Glad it helped and I hope you solve the problem and put it back to work :+1:

I'll look at it, thanks!!

Looks like the 19uF capacitor is missing

390 ohms as tailcap LED resistor is quite low

That is not a photo of my driver, but thanks anyway
